Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Sale, Gold Coast, Mount Gambier and Northam.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 4 @ 3:20 PM

The keys chances clashed recently in a Saturday grade BM78. DANCE TO THE BOOM (3) over-raced in the middle stages then failed to run on as favourite last start in that race at Randwick. Back in midweek company for the third run back from a spell and McDonald takes the reins. Expecting her to show her best today. SWELTERING (5) travelled midfield but failed to make an impression when resuming in the same race last time out. Runner-up in the Australian Oaks last prep so she will be better over more ground, but still fresh enough to be competitive at this level. LA ROJA (4) picked up nicely in the run home in the aforementioned BM78. Doubt this will be run to suit but she is honest and should be thereabouts. SOCRAZYINLOVE (6) has won a couple at Goulburn since resuming. Tougher assignment today but she is progressing well and gets some weight relief. IT'S A WONDER (7) is a gun fresh performer who can win without surprising.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Dance To The Boom.

DOOMBEN: RACE 8 @ 5:02 PM

Keen on the chances of HATCHET (6) on his favourite track. Ran home hard to place in a small field fresh at Eagle Farm but back over the road on favourite circuit and with a great second-up record looks the one to beat. POCKET FULL (7) looks the biggest danger. Fitter for the one trial and goes well here and while fresh. Has the in-form apprentice aboard and with the very attractive weight will be motoring home late. EN POINTE (11) is a talented mare back from a break. Fitter for two trials and while yet to win fresh has a top record this course and distance and will carry no weight after the claim. Has the inside and looks the one to run down. ZOUMETEOR (9) is much better than last couple of starts. Blew it at the start last time and although has a tricky draw here should slide forward and can give a sight. SHOW SOME DECORUM (10) was a close-up sixth on the Gold Coast fresh over 1000m and strips fitter. Extra trip a big plus.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Hatchet on favourite track.

SALE: RACE 8 @ 5:15 PM

Giving PERFECT PICTURE (8) another chance in what looks a very winnable affair. The fresh run was good and she's just had no luck in two runs since, shuffled right back at Seymour and again badly held up as the winner took off at Sandown Hillside last time, charging into second late. This doesn't look overly strong and with clear air she can atone. DOLLAR SHOT (5) has been below her best at her past couple but they've been in better company, tackling a G3 two back at Caulfield. Prior to that she'd won two in a row and coming back to this level can see her bounce back. ESPINHO (7) is going very well this time in, placing in his past three since a narrow maiden win. Won't need to improve much to be figuring prominently. SUPPOSE I DO (9) resumes. He can mix his form but has each way claims and goes well here. BARBARIC LAD (4) presents third up and can peak here from a better draw.
SELECTIONS: Perfect Picture to win.

GOLD COAST POLY: RACE 2 @ 1:04 PM

JUST WALTER (1) looked a run short placing here first-up before coming back and missing a nose from the front stepping up to this trip. He has the inside gate and can control the race again. Rates clear and should be winning. SAMURAI WAND (3) was much better beaten 1.7L in the same race. Keeps the 1.5kg claim and with the extra fitness can get closer. LIFE OF TREE (2) has been knocking on door on the turf and has his first try on a poly track. He races forward and expect the surface to suit. Has a 1.5 kg claim and should get every chance. RISE AND RESIST (8) resumed on the turf at the Sunshine Coast and placed second beaten 8.5L behind Vovo. Presents fitter and the in-form Lloyd is booked. Should enjoy the longer trip and also deserves plenty of consideration.
SELECTIONS: Backing Just Walter.

MT GAMBIER: RACE 1 @ 1:30 PM

Thin maiden with only a handful of winning chances. SHAYKHLISLAMOVA (8) has placed at three of her seven starts, including first-up at this track over 1300m. She draws low and will likely lead. She will get her chance and might be too good for them here. FOREVER JEUNE (5) comes across the border from an astute Victorian stable and must be respected. The 4kg apprentice boasts an excellent winning strike rate when combining with the stable. If she settles closer up to this trip, she can run well. PIKLEMEGRANMOTHER (10) started huge odds and defied market expectation on debut. This is no harder and she can run top three again. SETHACCHIO (7) and AUSTRAL MISS (4) are both lightly-raced and open to enough improvement that could see them in the minor money.
SELECTIONS: Backing Shaykhlislamova to win.

NORTHAM: RACE 7 @ 5:30 PM

FAST HARRY (4) looks a progressive type on resumption for Team Williams on the back of a couple of nice trials recently. Pike was on board for those trials and remains in the saddle. 1300m first-up looks perfect, he'll be able to build into the race nicely and storm over the top to score. DEFINE BEAUTIFUL (6) finished only 1.7L at Belmont last time out and looks suited by the slight rise in trip. The inside draw should see her closer in the run however and if she runs up to recent efforts, she should be right in the finish. PURE OBSESSION (5) comes through a couple of handy trials in readiness for this and looks a nice type on return. He was a winner first-up over this trip last campaign and the inside draw is a big tick. Can resume on a positive note. RAINLINE (7) looks set to peak third-up into the campaign and she can play a leading role. HOBA METEOR (10) is another who can put her best foot forward third-up.
SELECTIONS: Fast Harry looks the one to beat in the last.
