Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 30.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Eagle Farm, Belmont Park and Morphettville.
ROSEHILL: RACE 8 @ 3:50 PM
RAGING FORCE (7) one of the finds of the winter, undefeated in two runs this prep. Tagged the good tempo before launching late with a smart win over 1100m at this track on July 5. Since fitted with an 1080m trial and will prove hard to run down again at Group level. WODETON (5) exciting colt who finished a narrow second in the Golden Slipper on March 22, resuming. Looks ready to go with the two trials and J Mac has options from the draw. Will get the final look at them. DEVIL NIGHT (1) resumes after finishing a respectable fifth from the wide draw in the Golden Slipper. Won the Blue Diamond at start two in his first prep and closed well in his only trial over 905m. Value prospect. RIVELLINO (2) progressed quickly in his first prep, before racing without luck in the Golden Slipper and Sires Produce. Fitted with the two trials and will be desperate for as fast tempo.
SELECTIONS: Raging Force can go to a new level today.
CAULFIELD: RACE 9 @ 4:45 PM
ANOTHER WIL (6) is in for his best campaign yet, tuning up well at the jump outs. This is his first run since the Autumn, and he excels fresh, winning the C.F. Orr Stakes first up in the Autumn. FANGIRL (9) is a consistent mare who dodged the wet in Sydney last weekend to race in this. Her chances depend on how much rain Melbourne experiences over the coming days. Nonetheless, she is a highly talented commodity on good ground. ANTINO (3) was an impressive winner of the Doomben Cup last preparation and has tuned up quietly in a recent jump out. 1400 metres is on the lower range of distances that suit him, but he is arguably the best horse in the race. MR BRIGHTSIDE (1) was poor in Hong Kong, but he's a champion and can bounce back. TOM KITTEN (2) can have a breakout preparation and announce himself as a top-line contender in Group 1 grade.
SELECTIONS: Backing Another Wil.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 4 @ 1:38 PM
The well-related WHISPERING ROGUE (1) (half to 2xG2 winner and G1 placed Whispering Brook) has kicked off his career in fine fashion with a win and three placings from four starts with his only win coming over this distance range. Drawn to get a cosy run in transit from the inside alley and will be at peak fitness for this. On the quick back-up and rates the testing material. WANNABE BRUTAL (3) has placed two from two over this trip and will be cherry-ripe for this contest. Can play a major role in the outcome. CYBER CITY (4) broke the maiden status in dominant fashion at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. Can go right on with the job now. The well-bred ESSESSBEE (6) (out of G1 winner Pear Tart) is facing the starter for the first time but has shown ability at the trials and any market support must be noted. LONESOME SOUL (7) next in line with the claim.
SELECTIONS: Backing Whispering Rogue.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 5:45 PM
SNOW GOD (7) is racing in good order, he's just bumped into a few smart ones this campaign. There doesn't appear to be anything of that ilk in this event however and he can continue to work through the grades. Back in class now, but figures say better races are on the horizon and he can get the job done. REPEATER (2) got the job done to make it a hat-trick last start when dictating from the front on a day where you needed to be close to the speed at Pinjarra. Suspect he can lead the field once again and with his sprint speed, he'll take catching if he gets it all his own way. GOLD MAKER (8) jumped favourite last start and only just missed when running on from midfield. This is tougher, but he's ticking along nicely and should get his chance from a good gate. DIAMOND DANCER (5) was very impressive last start when winning as favourite. Back in trip is a slight niggle, but he's shown he's good enough. TALKAWAY (9) is better than she showed last start and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Snow God.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 5 @ 2:37 PM
DARKNCONFIDENTIAL (1) looks ready to win after hitting the line strongly in a race that was dominated on speed. The winner has since won again. He has drawn low, gets a 3kg claim and will relish the step to 1600m. He'll be hard to beat. AMBER NOOK (8) comes out of the same race and finished just behind Darknconfidential. She also gets a handy claim and is another drawn to get a nice run. GIN RUMMY (3) is getting closer and closer to an elusive second win. He's been back to the trials and looks ready to peak. ANTHRACITE (4) is untapped and might end up better than this grade. He looks comfortable on soft track which will help his cause here. TOWER OF TUSCANY (7) is worth some thought as a top three chance.
SELECTIONS: Backing Darknconfidential each-way.
