Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 17.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Wyong, Moruya, Ballarat, Sale, Sunshine Coast, Devonport and Carnarvon.
WYONG: RACE 3 @ 1:40 PM
ARTISTIC VENTURE (9) classy filly resuming. Raced without luck all prep in Group company last time in and she finds a winnable race here. Primed with the two good trials and can storm home over the top of these from the wide gate. THE MAGIC MAN (6) fitter after two runs back and drops a grade today after knocking up late from the wide draw when eighth over 1200m at Rosehill. Will push forward with the claim and give cheek from the draw. VOTING RIGHTS (12) resumes after disappointing on debut when ninth in the G3 Gimcrack over 1000m at Randwick last October. Keep safe. Debutant RIVENDELL (5) has shown enough at the trials to come right into play.
SELECTIONS: Artistic Venture to assert her class.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Wyong Computer Card.
MORUYA: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM
GRACEFUL ELLEN (6) has won two from four this time in and was far too strong scoring at Sapphire Coast a few weeks ago. Will be prominent and should be hard to beat again. BEAUTY DASH (10) is coming off a maiden win at this track but it was an impressive win from well of the speed. Has to back it up at benchmark level now but must respect. BLUE BAYOU (9) has found one better in two runs back from a spell in this class and at Moruya. Hard to leave her out of the main chances on those efforts. BROOKLYN LIGHTS (7) came off the canvas to win last time and HELLINDA (3) is entitled to another chance.
SELECTIONS: Graceful Ellen to win.
BALLARAT: RACE 3 @ 1:15 PM
SPLIT (4) beat Highland Blaze and Affluential on the flat in a three-runner field and translated his form over hurdles last time, beating subsequent winner, Farag. He'll be extremely hard to beat. HIT THE ROAD JACK (1) comes here in winning form, bolting up last week at Coleraine. On the quick backup, he'll be hard to run down. FLOOD AND FIRE (2) shed his maiden tag last time out under Pateman. Although he loses the premier rider here, but gets a reasonable replacement in Will Gordon. Can continue his winning form. GOLDEN GARDEN (3) is also capable and appears the next in line.
SELECTIONS: Split is the best bet on the program.
SALE: RACE 5 @ 2:55 PM
ETERNAL (5) resumes and is more than good enough. She flies fresh and placed second in a recent Flemington jumpout with race rider Damian Lane aboard. She won her Maiden by a space at her only go at Sale, and everything points to a bold return. HIGHLAND HARLEY (1) has been knocking on the door, and his figures stack up. Keeps the handy 3kg claim, and he deserves another chance. AREZZO (4) showed enough promise in his initial campaign and hasn't enjoyed the best of luck this time around. Dee stays aboard. DIAMOND INDARUF (8) hasn't been that far off the mark in recent efforts and has to be included again from the soft draw.
SELECTIONS: Backing Eternal.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:23 PM
CHARMING NIC (1) competed in a much richer race over this course and distance last time out and certainly wasn't disgraced finishing a close-up second. Gets 2kg weight relief with the claim and should find this assignment much more to his liking. Goes on top. SIX MORE SONGS (3) grows a leg for hoop Jones who has three wins and two placings from just six steers. Drawn to get a soft run in transit from gate two and should be going very close. CLICK CLICK BOOM (5) has a handy record over this track and trip with a win and two placings from four attempts. In the mix on current form. TAKE A BOW (8) is one from one around this circuit and has won when fresh before. Keep safe. BOLD BIDDER (4) strips fitter second-up from the spell and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Charming Nic to go one better.
CARNARVON: RACE 3 @ 2:55 PM
GOLD SPY (1) backed up the impressive first-up win by bolting in here 16 days ago, rounding up his rivals with ease. The step up in distance doesn't look an issue, as does the wide alley with his racing pattern. Can continue to work his way through the grades. WESTERN IMPACT (2) bounced back from a disappointing effort two back to finish 3.9L off the winner at Roebourne last time out. He was a winner in similar conditions here a month ago where he turned in a strong figure. The claim comes in handy and he can bounce back to winning ways. EIN STEIN (4) just missed here two back before a 2.9L defeat most recently. Happy to overlook that performance as this sets up better. The claim and barrier are big ticks. WAR TACTICS (5) hasn't been far away his past couple and should get his chance. KUNAPIPI (8) is better than she showed last start and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Gold Spy is the one to beat.
