Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 25.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Sale, Gawler and Northam.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 5 @ 3:20 PM
The Maher stable may hold the aces. EPIC PROPORTIONS (1) has been racing in stronger company and is well placed with Roper's 2kg claim. Just missed at Hawkesbury first-up and then lost both front plates here on the course proper, beaten 2.2L. He's been kept on the fresh side and maps to get every chance. AXIUS (8) resumes with a 2kg claimer aboard and was in the market in the Up And Coming Stakes when last seen. He was a big Canterbury Maiden winner before that and has been gelded. He draws low and is free-running. Will be naturally improved and everything points to a bold return. NOT THAT EASY (11) is up to this at best and resumed in solid order in a Randwick 78. Sits at the bottom of the handicap and fitter she should be right in it. POWER OF THE BRAVE (2) has been threatening a win with a 3kg apprentice aboard and has a key switch to Parr for this. Races forward and is also a hope.
SELECTIONS: Epic Proportions appeals at the each-way quote.

DOOMBEN: RACE 4 @ 1:18 PM
Former USA galloper JILLAROO (4) just ran into one better at Caulfield in her first local run before getting the job done over this track and trip last time out. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and can go back-to-back against this lot. The well-related PEE BEE NOIR (9) (half to G1 winner Atlante) shed the maiden tag at the latest outing and will have derived a stack of confidence from that breakthrough victory. Winning rider Du Plessis stays on top and she should be in the finish again. LOCH AWE (3) is one from one over this mile journey with his only true failure coming at Group 3 level. Cannot be discounted. LARUSSO (2) was okay when resuming at Ipswich but will have come on with that run now under the belt. Top-three credentials. COLLEANO (1) is usually thereabouts and can trouble the judge with luck in running.
SELECTIONS: Jillaroo to win again.
SALE: RACE 4 @ 1:45 PM
MONTE CASSINO (2) looks well placed coming a fair way back in grade here. He ran very well in a strongly run 2000m race at Flemington behind the progressive Shockletz when last seen and now comes back to a maiden. The form around him this time in reads exceptionally well. STELLA CANTANTE (9) was well supported over this route last time out and wasn't beaten far. She's going well and a strong each-way chance. TASSRON (4) has shown ability in four runs to date, just missing at Pakenham two back before bumping into a very smart one in Knobelas last time. Can give a bold sight. ZAMPARINI SPIRIT (5) has just found one better at his past couple and maps to advantage here. Takes catching. TOWNTOTOWN (10) was poor last time but can improve.
SELECTIONS: Monte Cassino to win.
GAWLER: RACE 3 @ 12:55 PM
This could be the race for HALLIWELL (1), who has always looked a handy mare. She was OK first-up but felt the pinch at the end of 1200m. Back 100m here should be in her favour, as will the likelihood of a rain-affected track. She gets her chance to break through. KORATORA (5) can run a big race fresh. She's trialed well and is drawn to get the run of the race. SILVER CHAOS (9) put the writing on the wall first-up and the form of the winner has held up since. JURA VAUDOIS (2) looks an interesting runner if connections opt to run her on the four-day back-up. She has ability on her day. Throw in SHE'S THE RUMOUR (8) for wider plays.
SELECTIONS: Backing Halliwell to win.
NORTHAM: RACE 6 @ 3:52 PM
SANTANOVA (9) looks a nice filly on the rise following a strong first-up effort over 1000m. She can be better again up slightly in trip and Chris Parnham now hops in the irons. Laid a good foundation first-up and she now looks set to go to a new level this time in work. SCENIC GEORGE (5) has trialled well since his first-up win over 1000m here, with that form having been franked in the 17 days since. The map is a little sticky for him, but if he can land in a good enough spot, he should be in the finish again. MAGIC TO EXCEED (2) resumes after a long layoff but his two trials back have been solid. Can feature. DASHING ERIKA (6) will be doing her best work late on resumption.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Santanova.
