Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 22.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Wagga, Murwillumbah, Cranbourne, Echuca, Sunshine Coast, Port Augusta, Kalgoorlie and Hobart.
WAGGA: RACE 3 @ 1:50 PM
DESERT OPAL (5) rewarded for his consistency at start eleven when stalking the speed and getting over them late over 1400m at Albury. Proven at the trip and kept up to the mark with a 900m tick over trial. Finds a winnable race again from the good gate. DOC MARCH (11) massive run from the wide gate when taking good ground off Astern Torch to run fourth over 1600m at this track. Hard fit and will relish a stronger tempo. SHEBRINGS BEAUTY (14) has found a bit of form at her last two outings and can shed her maiden status at start twenty. Kept finding on the line when second over 1600m here. Drops further in weight from the low draw. ASTERN TORCH (1) confidence is high now after getting off the mark at this track and trip.
SELECTIONS: Desert Opal can win again from the draw.

MURWILLUMBAH: RACE 3 @ 1:01 PM
SIGLO DE ORO (1) was solid in the betting when resuming at Doomben and while he faded late he wasn't beaten far and will find this a lot easier. Fitter for it and from the inside alley will have his chance to break through. DESTINYS SUMMIT (11) attracted good support fresh and ran up to it with a closing second at Ipswich. Back slightly in trip but she could lift. MISS LINNY (7) was spelled after a string of placings in Queensland and has won a trial leading into this event. Lightly raced and looks one of the main chances. CHEEK TO CHEEK (4) with blinkers can improve on last start fifth and DARE TO LOVE (5) has a show.
SELECTIONS: Siglo De Oro to win.
CRANBOURNE: RACE 1 @ 12:10 PM
The Hayes colt BACASH (10) looks set to get his maiden out of the way today, before moving on to bigger and better things. Bumped into some decent types as an earlier two-year-old, and has won a couple of trials leading into this for good measure. Looks to be the one. EXPULSION (11) resumed well at Flemington beaten 2.5 len by Miss Ole, and this shapes as a logical progression. Can win this. OCEANELLA (7) was close at Seymour in maiden grade last time and she can make her presence felt again today in similar company. WEIGHTLESS (8) next best after a runners-up effort at Mornington in the wet last time.
SELECTIONS: All roads lead to BACASH (10) in this one.
ECHUCA: RACE 9 @ 4:15 PM
ALERO (1) went back-to-back when winning a 64 easily at The Heath first-up and then missed a whisker at Pakenham as favourite. Linda rides today and will settle him forward. In the premier stable and stripping fitter, he should have them covered and as a result he goes confidently on top. WARPARTY (8) didn't miss a beat winning a 62 at Mornington first-up and then was better again narrowly beaten at Pakenham behind the above. He has to jump from an outside barrier today, and that tempers expectations. CHOICE WITNESS (10) is racing well in the country and can improve again over the longer sprint.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Alero.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 12:49 PM
LUCIFER'S WAY (3) has been heavily supported in both starts to date but has just run into one or two better. This is not an overly strong affair and where there's smoke there's fire - and there would surely be fire down Lucifer's Way... Looks the testing material against this line-up. The well-related RAGING (6) (half to G3 winner and 2xG2 placed She Shao Fly) gets 3kg weight relief with the claim and only needs some luck from the wide draw to play a role in the finish. Race drops away behind that pair. ATOMIC GOZEN (10) might be one to improve this time for the good yard. Trials have been okay.
SELECTIONS: Lucifer's Way to break through.
PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 2 @ 12:23 PM
PIRATE (2) clearly brings the best form and he's the horse to beat. All three of his runs for the in-form Theodore yard have had merit and if he replicates any of them, he should go close. He gets a low draw, a suitable jockey booking and the stable is flying. The only question is how he handles the dirt for the first time. One that does handle the surface is BRIGHT SHOW (8), who was placed at the track last start. She gets a claim here and should be able to run along on speed. The recent form is TANCREDI (3) is OK for a race like this, while STRASBEAU (5) and SPILL THE MONEY (11) both have each-way claims.
SELECTIONS: PIRATE (2) should be winning.
KALGOORLIE: RACE 6 @ 3:50 PM
ON JUST TERMS (8) sat on the speed and was far too good for her rivals here 21 days ago, bolting in by 2.3L. This looks to shape similarly and while she drops back to 1300m this time, that doesn't appear an issue. Looks a filly on the way up and she can bring up back-to-back wins. QUEEN'S SACRIFICE (7) has been close to the speed her past couple, scoring over 1400m last start in this grade. She'll be able to roll across from the sticky gate and she's a winning hope if she can run up to her recent figures. PRETTY DEVINE (2) missed by 3.8L last start in a much stronger race and looks better suited to this event today. The 3kg claim comes in handy and she's expected to bounce back to her best form under suitable circumstances. KAKADU (3) flew home to just miss last start and has to be included. SCOTTISH LAIRD (1) can improve back in grade after a couple of disappointing efforts recently.
SELECTIONS: Keen to back On Just Terms.
HOBART: RACE 8 @ 2:45 PM
ANYWAYS ROXIE (6) is ready to win and comes back to the turf on a quick backup. Rates best and is proven third-up. ALPINE THUNDER (8) led and found more like his best narrowly missing in a CL4. Won his only third-up outing and has 3kg weight relief at this level. FURNEAUX (1) was quickly on track winning a 68. He can use an inside barrier and the top hoop stays aboard. Briefly freshened he will get every chance to go back-to-back. RIGOLETTO (4) has been mixing trips and form. He'd been right in it at best, but has to bring his A-game. TURK BOY (5) resumes seeking the hat trick and flies fresh. Has to push over from a wide barrier but can't be ruled out.
SELECTIONS: Backing Anyways Roxie.
