Race Synopsis:Veteran jockey Jim Cassidy rode a great race to win with Steps In Time. He gradually brought mare across to take the early lead, before increasing the tempo at the 600m. She turned for home with a clear break, now moving away from the rails. Cassidy then kept her going, mainly riding hands and heels, holding on well for a strong first-up win. Main rival Red Tracer enjoyed a nice trip in third place to the turn. Hugh Bowman brought her up to challenge at the 300m and Red Tracer kept edging closer over the final 200m, failing by a half neck to wear down the game leader at the post. Choice Words was last in the seven-horse field to the turn. She got a nice run between horses at the 300m and moved to third at the 200m, battling on quite well for two lengths third. Ladys Angel was second last to the 600m, went wide at the turn, and kept making ground in the straight finishing fourth. Pear Tart was fifth one off the rails to the turn. But she only held her position in the straight finishing just under five and a half lengths fifth in her first start since November. *ANZ
