THE WORLD'S RICHEST RACE ON TURF - THE EVEREST

The TAB Everest in Australia is the richest turf race in the world, with a total of $15 million (AUD) in prize money, and a winner's purse of $6.2 million. The 6th running of The Everest will take place on Friday night, October 14 (US date/time), at Royal Randwick racecourse in New South Wales. A weight-for-age sprint contested over 6 furlongs, The Everest is now the crown jewel of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, and the $15 million prize pool sees it surpass the iconic Melbourne Cup ($8 million) as the richest Australian horse race.

The Everest is unlike any other race contested Down Under and entry into The Everest field comes at a cost of $600,000 to connections. The concept is similar to the Pegasus World Cup as horse owners buy a slot and The Everest field has a capacity of 12 starters. Five (5) horses are currently confirmed for the 2022 edition; Nature Strip (the highest ranked Sprinter in the World), Eduardo, Masked Crusader, Lost And Running and Mazu.

The Everest will be broadcast live on TVG and is also available to live stream at skyracingworld.com or via the SRW Live Racing App.
