Today's racing in South Korea

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (6f) Special Weight A / $32,000

Juvenile maiden fillies with four of the nine racing for the first time. (9) MYEONG DREAM may only have been 7th of eleven on debut over this distance on September 7th but the margins weren't huge, and she ran fairly enough in a decent time. She should have come on for the run and Ruan Maia getting on means she goes on top. Both (4) GEUMJEOKSAN and (5) WILD MAGIC showed promise in their respective trials, both of them settling midfield and running through the line well and both can go well on debut. (8) B.K. DEVIL was a fair 6th on debut over 5f on August 23rd and along with (3) HAENGBOKAN JILJU, the latter having raced twice, can be considered for improvement.

Selections   (9) Myeong Dream (4) Geumjeoksan (5) Wild Magic (8) B.K. Devil
Next Best   3, 6
Fast Start   3, 4, 7, 8

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (6 1/2f) Special Weight A / $22,000

(8) MUJEOK HAMDAE has shown progress across his three starts so far, culminating with a 3rd place over 6f on September 7th. He has come from off the pace each time so the slight step up in trip can suit, and he is the one to beat. (4) ROAD TO STAR was an improved 4th at start number two in that same September 7th race. Third-up he can be fitter, and he can be the main danger. There is one debut-maker. (5) SANGIM YEONGUNG went through two trials, improving to 2nd in his latest one when he came from off the pace to finish well and stopped the clock in a fast time. The 6 1/2f can suit first up and he can go close. (10) GLORY JOY and (9) RAON THE BIG RED are others who can compete for the places.

Selections   (8) Mujeok Hamdae (4) Road To Star (5) Sangim Yeongung (10) Glory Joy
Next Best   9, 1
Fast Start   1, 2, 6, 10

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (7f) Special Weight A / $22,000

(3) BEST DREAM came very close to breaking through over 6f on August 23rd when she led for most of the way only to be taken down late by a narrow margin. She comes up to 7f for the first time, but she can lead again, and this time go all the way. (11) JILPUNGA has four top five finishes from his first five starts including two 3rd places over 6 1/2f. The wide gate shouldn't be a problem, and he can be challenging late here. (6) THUNDER LUCKY is yet to finish in the top two but has no fewer than nine finishes between 3rd and 5th. An apprentice takes 4kg off his back and that can bring him into placing contention. (5) CHRYSOL PEACE and (1) RAON THE BELMONT others in the frame.

Selections   (3) Best Dream (11) Jilpunga (6) Thunder Lucky (5) Chrysol Peace
Next Best   1, 10
Fast Start   3, 5, 9, 11

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (5f) Special Weight A / $32,000

Juvenile maidens with all but three racing for the first time. (1) DAESEONG GOLD was a front-running trial winner on August 30th posting a good time. He draws the same gate for his debut and can win. The three with prior experience all debuted in the same race over this distance on September 12th. (12) CHEONGCHUNEUNJAYU was the best of them, showing on pace and ultimately finishing 3rd. He has the challenge of the widest gate here but can be close. (8) ART TREE went through two trials, improving in the second of them on September 13th when coming from well off the pace. Seo Seung-un being booked means he will have plenty of first-up backers. (6) COWBOY LOOK and (9) SINCHEON JUSTICE are the other two coming out of that September 12th race finishing 4th and 5th respectively and while they have plenty to make up on Cheongchuneunjayu, both should have come on for the experience.

Selections   (1) Daeseong Gold (12) Cheongchuneunjayu (8) Art Tree (6) Cowboy Look
Next Best   9, 5
Fast Start   1, 2, 11, 12

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (6 1/2f) Handicap / $32,000

(8) TIGER K is yet to win but has had several near misses including runner-up finishes from his latest two, most recently at this class over 7f on August 30th when he led for most of the way. He is up 2kg, but he can lead again here and this time, he can go one better. (10) WONDERFUL SOCKS wasn't fancied at all on debut over 5f on September 6th, but she came from off the pace to snatch the win. She is up in class and in trip today, but she can measure up. (5) HERO CHOICE is up in class following a maiden win at this distance on September 6th when leading all the way. He is down in weight and drawn well to be on the speed again. (2) TURBO SOCKS and (6) JUNMA FORCE are others in the frame.

Selections   (8) Tiger K (10) Wonderful Socks (5) Hero Choice (2) Turbo Socks
Next Best   6, 11
Fast Start   3, 5, 8, 11

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (6 1/2f) Special Weight A / $22,000

(11) UNJU MAGIC has improved across his three starts so far, most recently when coming from well off the pace to run 2nd over 7f on September 5th. He has a strong finish on him and so long as he is in touch at the business end of the race, he can win. (6) AMAZING ONE didn't do much in her first three starts but she then ran 5th of eleven in the Rookie Stakes on August 17th. A similar effort will see her very close in this company. (1) TAP Q was a much-improved 3rd over 1200 on August 24th. From the inside gate, he should be on pace and he can be in this a long way. (4) SEINE GANG and (3) WIND SWORD others in the hunt.

Selections   (11) Unju Magic (6) Amazing One (1) Tap Q (4) Seine Gang
Next Best   3, 10
Fast Start    1, 3, 4, 7

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1 1/16M) Handicap / $32,000

(9) SEUNGNI BAROWS got his maiden win at this distance in June and has since run 4th and 2nd in two tries at this class, both over 1 1/16M, with the 2nd coming when favourite on September 7th. He comes in under the same weight, Ruan Maia stays on, and he can return to winning ways. That will mean overturning the form on (3) BEAUTUFUL HWASEONG, who won that September 7th race at big odds, taking things up halfway home and never looking back. He comes up 3kg in weight but draws well and is not to be dismissed. (8) WHITE CARLA was an all the winner at this class two starts back before running 4th on her latest three weeks ago. He comes up to two turns for the first time and can be a chance (1) BLACK SIDAE and (7) BULGEUNTAEYANG others to consider.

Selections   (9) Seungni Barows (3) Beautiful Hwaseong (8) White Carla (1) Black Sidae
Next Best   7, 5
Fast Start   2, 6, 8, 10

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (6f) Handicap / $32,000

Fillies and mares only here. (1) SEONGSIL JEIL was a winner at start number two over 6 1/2f on August 9th, settling handy and running on. She comes in fresh after eight weeks off and while she is up in class, she is down in weight, well drawn, and she has as good a chance as any. (2) HANNAM QUEEN can mix her form but enters off a close 3rd in a similar race to this over 6 1/2f on August 31st. She'll be on pace here and can be in it a long way. (7) RIPPLES MARINE was an all the way winner on debut in July and while she has faded in both outings at this class, she can be given another chance in this company and from a slightly better gate. (10) MAGIC SWEETIE and (8) HANEULPYEONGJEONG others in the placing frame.

Selections   (1) Seongsil Jeil (2) Hannam Queen (7) Ripples Marine (10) Magic Sweetie
Next Best   8, 4
Fast Start   5, 7, 10, 11

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1 1/16M) Handicap / $43,000

(5) CHEONGSAN JILJU was an also-ran in the Derby I May but returned to winning ways at this class and distance with an all the way score on August 31st. He comes up 4.5kg in weight, but he is drawn well to lead again and he can follow up. (7) PINE PINK has won her latest two, both at class 5 lever and both at 7f. She comes up in class here as well as up to two turns for the first time but she has plenty of potential for more development, and she can measure up. It took (6) BURUI SEGYE eight tries to get his maiden win, but he evidently enjoyed it because he promptly followed up with two more. He too is up in class and in distance but is down in weight and four in a row isn't impossible. Those are the three standouts, with (11) NAMSAN MUJEOK and (8) HANGANG FANTASTIC the best of the rest.

Selections   (5) Cheongsan Jilju (7) Pine Pink (6) Burui Segye (11) Namsan Mujeok
Next Best   8, 10
Fast Start   2, 6, 8, 10

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (6f) Handicap / $43,000

(4) RACE MAN has five top two finishes including all of his latest four. Most recently 2nd at this class and distance on September 12th with several of today's rivals behind him. He likes to race on pace so while he is up 2.5kg in weight, he can take full advantage of a good draw to lead all the way. (10) PACHAMAMA has won two of her last three and three from five in total. Her latest was an on pace score a this class and distance on September 7th when similar to Race Man, she beat three of today's rivals. She too is up in weight but can be competitive again. There is one debut-maker. (2) DAISY TIARA went through two trials, winning the second on August 23rd despite a wide gate. She is a half-sister to Dolkong and looks an intriguing one. (6) DOCTOR CITY and (8) SHACKLE LAUD others in the frame in a good race for the level.

Selections   (4) Race Man (10) Pachamama (2) Daisy Tiara (6) Doctor City
Next Best   8, 7
Fast Start   3, 4, 9, 10

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (6f) Handicap / $43,000

Competitive race. (11) SPARTAN returns for the first time since a 4th place at this class and distance on July 12th. Like that day, he is done no favours by the draw, but with a bit of luck at the start he can find a forward position and Maia on for the first time, he is worth taking a chance on. (4) ROYAL PLUS has won her latest two, most recently and all the way win over 7f at this class in a quick time on September 6th. She is up 3.5kg in the weights but a hat-trick is possible. (8) HANSEN STAR was 2nd in last year's Rookie Stakes but only ran once more as a juvenile. He returned to action after an eleven-month absence on August 3rd when he led at this class and distance before fading but he can strip fitter here and can be in this. (7) RAON ECLIPSE and (9) RUN WILD other chances.

Selections   (11) Spartan (4) Royal Plus (8) Hansen Star (7) Raon Eclipse
Next Best   9, 6
Fast Start   4, 7, 8, 10

Busan Race 5: Class 3 (1 1/8M) Handicap / $54,000

(7) DUSTIN MARINE has won two of his last three, most recently at this class and distance on August 29th when settling midfield and running on. He only comes up 2kg in weight and he can win again here. (3) NEVER GIVE UP has been a revelation since being stepped up to 1 1/8M with a 2nd place on his first go, followed by three consecutive wins, all at class 4 level and most recently on August 22nd when he settled midfield. He is up in class but down a full 4kg in weight and he can continue his rich vein of form. (5) BARAMBARAM hinted at a return to form when 3rd at this class and distance on September 7th and while he stays under a big weight, he can be there or thereabouts again. (8) WORLD WINNERS MAN and (10) AJANTA other place chances.

Selections   (7) Dustin Marine (3) Never Give Up (5) Barambaram (8) World Winners Man
Next Best   10, 6
Fast Start   2, 4, 7, 9

Seoul Race 8: Class 3 (7f) Handicap / $54,000

(9) RYAN HEART has been a model of consistency picking up three wins and being no worse than 4th in any of his five starts to date. He was 4th on his first try at this class on August 23rd when handy throughout in what was a very quick race and, in this company, he can be on pace and can win. He will need to reverse the form on (1) WHIZ CAMPAIGN, who ran 3rd in that August 23rd race when sent off as the longest shot on the board. He stays under the same weight and Moon Se-young's booking ensures he will be nowhere near the longest shot here. (11) RIVER TAEYANG has a 4th and a 3rd from his latest two at a mile and 7f and the veteran six-year-old can be around the placings again. (5) ELDORADO NOLBU and (7) GOLDEN DRAGON others who can compete for the minors.

Selections   (9) Ryan Heart (1) Whiz Campaign (11) River Taeyang (5) Eldorado Nolbu
Next Best   7, 10
Fast Start   1, 2, 7, 9

Busan Race 6: Class 2 (1 1/4M) Handicap / $65,000

It's been ten starts since (1) DOCTOR CAPTAIN last won but he has been very consistent, finishing in 2nd or 3rd in his last eight, six of them at this class and four at this distance, beating plenty of today's rivals in the process. In this small field he may be ridden a little further forward a bit earlier and today should be his day. It isn't a strong set of rivals. (6) B.J. CHIEF was 4th to Doctor Captain's 3rd on September 14th at 1 1/8M and is probably the main danger. (5) FLYING THE CHAMP has been beaten by Doctor Captain in both his two most recent appearances but was 3rd at this class and distance on August 24th and should be there or thereabouts again. (2) HAVE A GOOD DAY and (8) DOCTOR KINGDOM are other place chances.

Selections   (1) Doctor Captain (6) B.J. Chief (5) Flying The Champ (2) Have A Good Day
Next Best   8, 7
Fast Start   1, 4, 6, 8

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1M) Handicap / $54,000

(1) HAKSAN DARK HORSE enters having won at this class and distance on August 30th settling midfield and proving too strong. He is up 4kg in weight, but he will be favoured to go back-to-back here. (7) LONG RUN BULPAE struggled in the first two legs of the Triple Crown but has been better since returning to shallower waters with a 4th and a pair of 3rd places, most recently in a trophy race over 6f on international weekend a month ago. The mile is a question, but he has plenty of ability. (3) CHAN FAMOUS was well back in that trophy race, but he was a class and distance winner on August 16th and can be in the mix again. (4) GREAT STORM and (2) VISION POWER others in the placing frame.

Selections   (1) Haksan Dark Horse (7) Long Run Bulpae (3) Chan Famous (4) Great Storm
Next Best   2, 8
Fast Start   1, 7, 8, 10

Seoul Race 10: Class 2 (1 1/8M) Handicap / $65,000

(10) EAST WEST ran out a very easy winner over this distance on August 23rd at class 3 level, scoring by fourteen lengths. The handicappers promptly gave him fourteen points which not only brought him up in class but takes him right to the top of class 2 so there is no weight break for him here, but Maia stays on and he can win here. (3) DRONE KILLER is ultra-consistent and enters following a 3rd place in a tough Trophy race over 1 1/16M on September 6th. Lightly weighted and nicely drawn, he will be there or thereabouts again. (11) WHIZ RUNNER is up in class following a good win over a mile at the end of July. He has already won at this distance and can challenge late here. (4) GIANT PUNCH and (5) TAEPYEONG LEGEND, the latter who can have his latest two in tough company dismissed, are others in the hunt.

Selections   (10) East West (3) Drone Killer (11) Whiz Runner (4) Giant Punch
Next Best   5, 1
Fast Start   2, 5, 7, 9

Seoul Race 11: Class 1 (6f) Handicap / $78,000

(6) YEONGGWANGUI WORLD was a desperately close 2nd at this class and distance on August 31st when on pace throughout and just missing out on a lightning quick track. A multiple winner at both this class and this distance, he has his fair share of weight again and he can win. That will mean overturning the form on (1) WOW WOW who at 28/1 returned to form to win that August 31st race, leading all the way. He gets in under the same weight, draws well, and if he gets to the lead again, anything can happen. (7) EOSEOMAREULHAE comes in off a 3rd place at this class over 7f on September 14th and may be returning to form himself. (4) GLOBAL BOBAE and (10) SOMETHING LOST other place chances.

Selections   (6) Yeonggwangui World (1) Wow Wow (7) Eoseomareulhae (4) Global Bobae
Next Best   10, 3
