Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - MACHETE (8) made a good return over the Albury 900m, chasing gamely into fourth. The form from the race has stuck up superbly with already three subsequent winners. Kept fresh for this and will appreciate the added 100m. Bold showing anticipated. ROGUE NATION (3) is a first-starter by Unite And Conquer from Abba who has produced her share of winners. Trialled well at Goulburn and while the wide alley is a query, he shapes as a key player first-up. BLESSING SEASON (5) is another debutant. By Written By and has shown enough at the trials to warrant consideration. Market watch advised. DOUBTFREE (2) was plain fresh at Albury but strips fitter and can lift sharply. Don't dismiss for the minors. Debutant ELASAND (12) next best.
RACE 2 - SABLONNEUSE (3) has shown enough in two runs to suggest a win is near, with his debut form stacking up strongly. Well drawn to take closer order and looks ready to peak third-up. BRUTAL BELLE (7) produced a big finish when charging late into second at Moruya last start. Likely to drift back again but will be rattling home if the tempo is genuine. ROULLOTTIE (9) continues to find one better but her consistency can't be faulted, with 10 placings on the board. Handles the going, strips fitter third-up and gets the services of McDougall to offset a wide draw. BRUNDEE TOM (6) never gave in to grab third at Moruya last start and is another that looks set to peak. Right in the mix. SUPER JULES (12) is knocking on the door and has a solid association with Boudvillain. Must be included.
RACE 3 - AUTUMN BREAK (6) is on debut for the Kym Davison stable. Three-year-old gelding by The Autumn Sun. Comes here off a recent trial win. Should measure up. Keep a close eye on betting. BELNERA (3) failed to live up to the firm quote on the Riverside track last start but can bounce back sharply third-up, in what should be better conditions. Has enough early muster to offset the sticky draw and can give this a big shake. LOVEHUNTER (5) returns after 435 days. Now with the smart Luke Pepper team, who does a great job with tried horses. Will most likely need the run (or two) but would be silly to write off the stable. JUSTENUFFSPLASH (10) is a first-starter by Rich Enuff. Fitter for some strong lead-up work. Definitely worth consideration. PURE MELODY (12) was sound on debut to finish at Forbes. Obviously has upside and is worth keeping safe in exotics.
RACE 4 - KARASMATIC (3) broke his maiden stylishly over this trip at Swan Hill last start and looks to have more to give. Lightly raced with upside and shapes as the one to beat. DOLZINO (2) has been mixing his form but his peaks stack right up. Has a horror draw to overcome but with even luck he can play a major role. WILD ANNIE (10) backs up quickly after a strong closing second at Albury. Draw is awkward but extra trip suits and she's a winning hope. MONTIGO BAY (9) will find this much easier dropping back to the country circuit and should be hitting peak fitness fourth-up. Willing to give another chance. Maiden ANABAA'S SPIRIT (11) next best.
RACE 5 - REGION TIME (3) backed up a solid Moruya placing with a strong Albury win over 1500m. Is as tough as old boots and should prove hard to hold out again. MISSY SPIKE (13) has been around the mark without saluting. Shoulders a strong record here but is sure to be giving them another big sight from the wide alley. SUPER SUNNY SEEYA (9) has been mixing his form but his best efforts measure up. Rock-hard fit now and draws well. Win won't shock. FIRE YOUR GUNS (11) is yet to threaten this campaign but has been closing off nicely late. Gets a key booking in McDougall and should relish the rise in trip. Don't take lightly. MISS BARILOCHE (4) next best.
RACE 6 - LAGUNA SECA (6) returned in great order when charging late to grab second at Moruya. Fitter for that and with even luck from the wide draw he will take some stopping. CAPTAIN NAY (5) resumes off a seven-month spell and is proven fresh, having kicked off his last prep with a Gundagai win. Hasn't been seen at public work but is clearly capable of striking first-up again. BRIAL ROSE (4) improved sharply second-up, boxing on gamely to finish a head away in third at Corowa over 1200m. Still on the up and shapes as a key player back to the 1000m. ABSTRUSE (3) rarely wins but continues to run honest races, placing again at Moruya last start. In the mix for another minor cheque. XSPIRITOUS (10) prefers firmer footing but does usually run well here. Don't dismiss easily.
RACE 7 - CANNY HELL (1) resumes and brings strong credentials, last seen boxing on well in the Wagga Town Plate in May. Possesses a clear class edge and has been readied with a nice trial at home. Expect him to take plenty of catching. GOBBO'S MATE (8) will roll forward and look to dictate. Clearly prefers firmer going but if conditions suit he will take running down. MANSIERE (4) was below his best in three runs this prep but has since been freshened and given a trial. Capable of sharp improvement. CHOICE WITNESS (5) boasts a dominant win here three runs ago and is a strong finisher when the tempo is on. Needs luck from the back but has a knockout chance. JUST GOOGLE ME (11) maps awkwardly but could bob up in the minors at odds.
RACE 8 - SEA POEM (3) was a commanding winner at Bairnsdale last start over this trip. Fitter again and shapes the one they need to beat. RECON (1) resumes after enjoying a successful debut prep. Was last seen in March when thrown in the deep end tackling Listed company at Flemington. Arrives fitter for a jump-out win at Wodonga and looms as a genuine winning chance. SWINGING HIGH (9) came from the tail to score stylishly over 1100m at Goulburn last start, with Amy O'Driscoll retaining the ride. Has the turn of foot to feature prominently again. MAGIC LEPRECHAUN (6) wasn't far away last time on heavy ground and now gets weight relief. Honest type who can fill a drum. Last start Moruya winner GOOLOO BUCKY (5) also deserves some thought.
