Keep an eye on SA: Blackbookers - 23rd August 2025

We’ve found a horse to follow from Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

R1: Sassy Sophie (3rd)

In a race dominated from the front by the smart winner Bacash, I thought Sassy Sophie did enough late to suggest there's an upcoming win in her.

The Andrew Gluyas-trained filly settled last in the small field and, at one point, was two lengths off the second last horse. She wanted to hang in at times around the bend and in the straight but she finished the race off well once she balanced up.

Her final 200m sectional of 12.29 was the quickest of the race.

That was her third start and I'd expect connections to now step her up beyond sprint trips. She's a daughter of Churchill that is a half-sister to an Adelaide Cup winner so I'd expect her to improve once she gets to 1600m and beyond.
