Belmont hosts the Farnley Stakes this weekend with the running of the Listed feature won by some great names in WA racing.

The rail is in the 3m position this weekend with the track rated a Soft 5 as of Thursday, though a cold front is expected to hit Perth on Friday which could cause some chaos leading into the weekend.

We've seen meetings transferred due to heavy rain in recent months and with up to 50mm forecast, we're expected to end up on a Heavy track once again on Saturday.

We'll touch on the feature straight away as that's where one of the Best From The West comes up.

COOL MEMORY creates plenty of interest for me in the Farnley Stakes off a strong win last time out over this course and distance.

The key for this son of Impending is his racing pattern, with the five-year-old being the only speed in the race, he's likely to take up the running from his inside barrier and Brad Parnham can do as he pleases.

Parnham replaces the apprentice hoop who steered him to victory last start and match his front-running pattern with his 54kg weight, it looks a recipe for success!

While Fluro Neuro is racing well and gets Pike in the saddle, with Cool Memory not being that far off him on the RAS Ratings and having a couple of key advantages, that makes Cool Memory an attractive proposition.

Desert Nymph won well last start, but it was a bunched finish, and she was 20-1 there in an easier race, which you're now being asked to take single figures in a Listed event, and Saloon Bar gets one more chance to show us what he can do following a poor trial and fresh run.

While untested on the Heavy going, four of his 5 career wins have been on Soft tracks and if he handles it, he'll be very hard to catch.

I'm also heading back to the well with the Grant and Alana Williams-trained IMMORTAL BLISS.

He was well placed last start on the 9-day turnaround to win again as the odds-on favourite. Although this is a tougher race, he still has some wiggle room in his RAS Ratings which bodes well for him now third-up into the campaign.

I initially thought he may get run off his feet remaining at the 1000m journey, but with a lack of early speed on paper, he should get his chance to build into the race as he has done his past couple and launch over the top of his rivals.

He's hinting that he's better than this grade and with The Pinnacles around the corner and the good horses making their way back soon, he can pick up some valuable ratings points in the lead up to the features.
