Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Newcastle, Ballarat, Ipswich and Narrogin.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 5 @ 4:15 PM

OUI OUI OUI (6) Yes Yes Yes mare who returns with the two slick trials under her belt. Raced without luck in two runs at Rosehill in BM72 grade last time in. Winning jockey retains the ride and proven first-up. CARTWHEELS (3) resuming and now in the Sara Ryan yard. Comes to hand quickly and can race closer to the speed from the inside draw. Wasn't asked to do much in both trials and the tongue-tie goes on. Leading contender. EMPUSA (12) lightly raced mare with upside, resuming. Fitted with the two searching trials over 1000m and has the speed to hold a position with cover. Each way. LISTINS LASS (11) kept fresh for this after coming out of a strong rating contest when last over 1300m at Hawkesbury behind Maid Of Moolah. Form has since been franked and kept up to the mark with a Wyong trial placing. Stays in the calculations.
SELECTIONS: Oui Oui Oui can sprint well fresh.

BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM

PUGLIA (9) has had a few chances but does look to have found a very winnable maiden here. She notched up another minor placing first up at Sale but ran well again for second and should be fitter for that. She maps for every chance here and can get that elusive win. ALWAYS YOURS (8) is a mare by Dundeel on debut for the Grahame Begg yard who represents strong connections. She was runner-up in a recent jumpout and kicks off at a suitable distance here. Not sure where she gets to from the draw but respecting. COLT FORTY FIVE (1) ran well fresh on heavy ground at Geelong and should be fitter. He appears to have come back better. HELL OF A GENT (4) has been fair in two runs back but can get a soft run here out to 1400m and sneak into the finish. MACCA'S ANGEL (11) was well beaten on debut at Mornington but can improve.
SELECTIONS: Puglia to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 4 @ 3:55 PM

SPARTUS (6) grows a leg for hoop Jones who has three wins from just four steers and will be high on confidence following that last-start victory over this track and trip. Looks the one they all have to run down. MY NAME IS (4) has a win and a second from two attempts over this course and distance and has tuned up for this with a recent trial victory. Include from the low draw. CAMPAI (2) has won two of his past four and gets some weight off with the 2kg claim. Hard to beat in this suitable contest. RUSSIAN MINT (1) is one from one around this circuit and may run a big race while fresh. The well-related ALL STASHED UP (8) (full to G3 winner and G2 placed Hidden Wealth) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Spartus to go back-to-back.

NARROGIN: RACE 4 @ 6:15 PM

VANCOUVER STORM (1) narrowly missed two back in a CL3 at Northam before a 4.2L defeat in Saturday grade at Ascot last time out. The form out of that race has already been franked and he'll find this much easier. Out in trip is the query, but he just needs to hold his form to be going close. SNIP OF GOSSIP (5) led at Bunbury last time out over the 1705m journey and was only caught late, beaten 1.5L. He drops back in grade today and the inside draw can see him dictate the terms once again. Will be tough to run down. NORMA STARS (7) just missed in a similar race at York last start when finishing off strongly from midfield. The step up in distance is a big tick for her and she won't be far off the speed from a good gate. Can land the knockout blow. BELLE JOURNEE (4) will find this easier than recent efforts and can improve. RIVERCREST MAGIC (8) was too good last time out from well back in the field and can repeat the dose.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Vancouver Storm.
