Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield Heath, Eagle Farm,
Belmont, Balaklava and Launceston.
ROSEHILL: RACE 2 @ 3:00 PM
BIG TIGER (1) raced wide without cover but refused to lie down on debut last start over 1300m at Warwick Farm, eventually beaten just 0.4 lengths into third. Ideally placed over a slightly longer trip and with even luck in running should be right in the finish. RIEZ SOUVENT (5) debuted in the same race as Big Tiger and was safely held. Settled just off the pace that day and couldn't quicken but wasn't too far away. Worth another chance over the extra 100m. WAR KING (6) copped early interference and raced fiercely so his effort to finish third when resuming over 1200m at Kembla was full of merit. Check the performance of Pimlico in Race 1 today, the winner of that Kembla maiden. MISS LOLA (9) has hit the line well to fill minor placings in her two runs this prep, both over shorter journeys at Warwick Farm. Blinkers on and stepping up in trip. Looms as a serious threat. IRON LEGEND (8) went okay on debut at Newcastle although this is a far tougher assignment.
SELECTIONS: Big Tiger to win.

CAULFIELD HEATH: RACE 1 @ 1:25 PM
SKETCH (8) looks the one to beat. Two runs back this time in have been very good, narrowly beaten at Kilmore fresh before starting $2.20 favourite at Ballarat when third to Strictly Business, who won the G1 VRC Oaks just 13 days later. Out to a mile from the inside draw can see her settle closer and from there she should be too good. FALSTAFFIAN (4) has been solid in two runs to date, finishing fifth on each occasion. The debut at Sandown Hillside was in a good race before boxing on late at Sale. He should take running down. SKY DEEL (5) made good improvement second up out to this trip at Cranbourne when finding a progressive one a bit too strong. Fitter again now and should be right there. RACEY CASEY (7) is knocking on the door with consecutive minor placings. She should be knocking one off soon.
SELECTIONS: Sketch to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 4 @ 5:03 PM
NOTTINGTON PRINCE (1) has finished runner-up at the past couple and looks to be on the doorstep of a maiden victory. Melbourne Cup-winning hoop Dolan sticks in the saddle and can go one better against this line-up. DIALIDAE (6) has been just behind the placegetters in both outings this campaign and is drawn to get a cosy run in transit from the inside alley. Should be hitting the line with gusto. KING COBAMA (2) was a touch plain last time out but go on the close-up second on debut. Capable of a better showing. OUR BRAVE LINI (11) wasn't disgraced when facing the starter for the first time and can feature with natural improvement. JUSTA BARTY (8) hails from an astute stable and any market confidence must be noted.
SELECTIONS: Backing Nottington Prince.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 3 @ 2:24 PM
STORM AWAY (3) flew home first-up in the Max Simmonds before a 3.6L defeat in the Belgravia Stakes at Listed level 18 days ago. He drops right back to Maiden company today however and the aid of an inside draw is a big tick. Rates highly on his performances this time in work and just needs to hold his form to shed the maiden tag. CONCHETTA'S DREAM (9) ran on strongly from the back half of the field on debut to be 0.7L off the winner over 1000m. She's been given some time to recover from that effort and now rises to 1200m with the tongue tie going on. Draws well and looks a big threat. FILA MIA (6) has disappointed her past couple, but her last run was in the Placid Ark Prelude. Back to a race like this should suit her much better and she can bounce back to form. DIAMOND WARRIOR (4) can improve now third-up and coming back to Maiden grade. JEMCONI (10) was solid on debut as favourite and looks suited by the slight rise in trip.
SELECTIONS: Going with Storm Away on top.
BALAKLAVA: RACE 8 @ 5:15 PM
REFRESHING (6) has speed to burn and looks suited back to this grade after finishing down the track in a stronger city race last time. If the track is suiting on pacers as it often can, she will take some catching, especially with the claim. IN LOVE (2) is a handy mare on her day and she looks well placed here. Her best form is once she's had a run or two so whatever she does here, she will improve on. ALPHA FLIGHT (1) is going OK this time in. He won first-up at Jamestown then wasn't horrible as a $101 chance in a stronger race last start. Maps to get the gun run and can finish in the money. REVOLUTION BELLE (8) will get every chance from the inside draw.
SELECTIONS: Backing Refreshing to lead and win.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 7 @ 9:30 PM
NGAPALI BEACH (3) presents third-up and is poised to find her best with the key jockey switch to Darmanin. Was beaten 1.6L this track/trip last time in tougher grade and maps well. The one to beat. STARS IN THE NIGHT (4) led here first-up and looked a run short, beaten 1.5L. She draws inside and keeps a handy 2kg claim. She's only won 1/7 over this longer sprint but has more to give and is sure to give a big sight. NAZORIAN (6) improved sharply second-up in the same contest beaten a nose. He's had a trial since and is proven third-up. He's also a niggle at 1200m but should get every chance to run it right out. POWER MAGNUM (7) was beaten 1.6L in that race back from the synthetic. The inside gate will advantage and he's in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Ngapali Beach to win.
