Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Flemington, Eagle Farm, Morphettville Parks, Ascot and Hobart.
ROSEHILL: RACE 10 @ 6:05 PM
FROSTY GIRL (9) exciting mare who continued where she left off last campaign when returning for an effortless victory over 1400m at Warwick Farm in weaker class. Has the upside to test these from the inside gate. Goes close. MAWJOOD (5) kept fresh after racing keenly early when a below par seventh in the Big Dance Qualifier over the 1600m at Randwick on October 18. Well placed back to the 1400m and Josh Parr won well on him two back at this track and trip. Value play. FORMAL DISPLAY (3) anchored with 60.5kg when a tough on-pace second over this trip at Warwick Farm. Will relish the claim and has top-three prospects. STARMAN (13) returns from a let-up and can surprise some of these if they overdo it up front. Kept up to the mark with a trial placing over 821m. Strays in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Frosty Girl and Mawjood look set to fight it out.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 3 @ 1:50 PM
Quite keen on NADAL (2) here. He was something licked in this race last year when held up badly, showing his ability with a huge win in a $1million race at Cranbourne next time out. He was returning from an injury in the G2 Caulfield Sprint and ran quite well, getting back and looming up as some hope before fitness gave out late. Love the wide draw and 1200m on a track with some give in it. If he's anywhere near his best, he'll go awfully close. FRONT PAGE (1) tried hard as usual in The Kosciuszko first up with 60kg. He's getting on in age and typically goes better fresh but he was excellent for second in this race last year. KING OF ROSEAU (3) resumes having won the G3 Aurie's Star before a spell over this route. He's up to this. BIG SWINGER (15) is lightly raced and has been heavily backed in some handy races, wary of his ceiling.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 12:42 PM
FIRST MISSION (1) returned in fine fashion with a solid Doomben victory and will have come on with that run now under the belt. Loves this six-furlong trip with two wins and two seconds from just five attempts and can go back-to-back to start the campaign. SHE OURS (13) strips fitter second-up from the spell and did get up to Listed level when last in work. Top-three aspirations with natural improvement. KEEP SAFE (14) saves his best form for this journey and looks one for the exotics players. NEGOTIATIONS (5) has been just out of the money recently including last time out when fifth over 1000m at this track. Can contest for a place.

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 6 @ 4.02 PM
SHISUTA BO (4) hasn't done a lot wrong and looks a good chance again. Caitlin Tootell will have her work cut out for her from the wide gate but if she can enjoy an economic run, she can be in the finish. As a rule, the powerful Lindsay Park stable must be respected when they campaign horses in SA so ITSUKUSHIMA (1) must be considered a winning chance. He's never won second-up, but the first-up run suggests he's come back well. The claim helps and he should be strong late. DOLCEMENTE (9) is another that doesn't traditionally win until deeper into the preparation but expecting some improvement here. She can run a place. ISUSPECTJEU (10) is untapped and looks well placed from the low draw with the claim.

ASCOT: RACE 8 @ 7:20 PM
WESTERN EMPIRE (1) comes here first-up on the back of two impressive trials. He's performed strongly first-up without winning since coming back to WA, though this looks a very suitable event. Likely to get back in the run, but he's a very classy customer and he can mow down his rivals. SUPER SMINK (9) ended up further back than anticipated first-up in the Crawford and while she didn't win, she was still very strong late. The inside draw may be a hindrance if she can't hold a position, but she's a classy customer and the fresh run said she's back as good as ever. Second-up record is good and she can go a couple better now. MAGNIFICENT ANDY (2) dipped second-up as he tends to do, though he's known to bounce back third-up. Still only 1.9L away in the Eurythmic however and a return to his best form will see him hard to mow down. YONGA LASS (11) was good late in the Golden Saddle and looks nailed on to win something this carnival. COMFORT ME (3) will give a bold sight from the front.

HOBART: RACE 6 @ 3:36 PM
DURAZZO (1) brings a near miss and a win in Listed grade to resumption. Spaced the rivals in a trial at Longford recently and looks ready to pick up where he left off. Tough to beat with average luck from an awkward gate. ALVARINHO (4) resumes and has placed at Listed and Group level. Goes on the fresh side and her figures stack right up. She's right up to this on song. AND BEYOND (2) resumes with the leading hoop booked. Maps for the run of the race and he's in the mix putting his best foot forward. FURNEAUX (8) finished fifth last start, beaten 3 lengths at Launceston over 1200m. Worth keeping safe.
