Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 29.

Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Rosehill, Bendigo, Doomben, Murray Bridge, Belmont and Launceston.

ROSEHILL: RACE 1 @ 3:00 PM

PEACE BIRD (11) was luckless on debut at Canterbury two back then raced handy and was only beaten a whisker over 1200m at Warwick Farm last start. Looks as though she will get this extra trip okay. Open to further improvement and can go one better. Waller's first starter BOTANIST (4) is the query runner. By Wootton Bassett from a Slipper placegetter in Tulip. Trials have been good enough and McDonald's engagement is a strong pointer. The vet reported CLANWILLIAM (5) was slow to recover last start so that failure should be forgiven. Trialled well since and the blinkers go on so watch for a much better run. YATTAZOU (12) made late inroads to just miss the placings recently over 1200m at Warwick Farm, finishing 1.3 lengths behind Peace Bird. Has the job ahead to turn the tables although an extra 200m should suit. MATIAS (6) resumes. Wasn't beaten far in the two runs of his maiden prep and is now a gelding so more might be in store.
SELECTIONS: Peace Bird to win the opener.

BENDIGO: RACE 7 @ 4:20 PM

Over to the Cup and Waller's progressive former import GOD'S WINDOW (11) looks set to peak. He's a lightly raced 5yo gelding who had shown good ability in some strong races in England before coming out here off a long spell this time in. He got to 2000m last time and showed plenty of improvement, now dropping 5.5kg up to 2400m which will suit much better. QUIETNESS (6) was only second up in the G3 Coongy Cup and ran very well as a $4 chance, perhaps not ridden ideally when ridden back from a wide draw. She's out wide again here but surely rolls forward this time and should give a sight. ARAPAHO (1) has to give them all weight as a dual G1 winner. His run two back in the G3 Kingston Town with 58kg is good form for this. SAYEDATY SADATY (4) was too close to a very strong pace last time and can bounce back here. INTERPRETATION (3) struggled in the same race but had been solid prior and did win this last year, albeit off a better lead up run.
SELECTIONS: God's Window to win.

BENDIGO: RACE 9 @ 5:30 PM

BIG SEXY (11) is up to 1400m here second up but has plenty of ability and the profile to match, winning dominantly at Hamilton as favourite having shown good ability last time in. Beaten just 2.3 lengths at Flemington over this trip at his second career start, he looks set to measure up against opposition that have largely found their mark. ACTIVE DUTY (6) is racing well. He was far too good when last seen at Ballarat over 1600m. Back in trip here is of some concern but expect they roll forward and try to make this a stern test. RUSSIAN METEOR (4) was solid fresh at Seymour with 61.5kg and should be fitter. IMPENDING LINK (7) was just fair in the same race but had been going well prior and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Big Sexy to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 8 @ 5:13 PM

Liked the run of ELLIBABY (7) fresh in city class when she found the line well for a close-up fourth. Well placed here and fitter again should go close. BOOM SHOT (3) was midfield in a hot form race two back then had no luck last time. Going better than form suggests and with clear running will be tough to stop this line-up. TOTO STRIKE (6) has been thereabouts without winning, the latest when fifth over 1200m at this track two weeks ago, beaten 2.75 lengths. Ready to win and from four starts on rain affected going has a win and three minors. Gets chance to dire and looks a major player with any luck from the draw. HELL AND BACK (5) raced in easier company last start finished second at Gold Coast. Going well and loves the wet ground. Can give a sight.
SELECTIONS: Stick with Ellibaby.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 2 @ 2:20 PM

SAINT BOOM (11) was narrowly defeated in the same maiden at Morphettville last time. She has been placed in four of her 10 starts and looks set to improve second-up to 1400m. Gets the blinkers on now for Holder and suspecting drawing away from the fence is a big tick. Can shed the maiden tag this time. I AM RALPH (3) is another that looks an each-way chance off his recent form. He was well held in his only two runs at 1400m but might be ready now. ALPINE LEE (13) can atone after being beaten as favourite last start, while THAVMA (8) might be an improver at a big price after things didn't go right at all last time.
SELECTIONS: Backing Saint Boom to win.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 6 @ 4:41 PM

STARTLING STAR (2) closed off strongly from well back under the apprentice to be 3.2L off the winner over 1800m last time out as favourite. She now rises in trip again and gets CJP in the saddle this time from a better gate. Expecting her to sit closer this time and with her upside, she looks very hard to beat. DANDY'S GEM (5) led them up last start at Ascot and was only collared late, beaten 0.4L. Expect her to take up the running once again from an inside barrier for Ramoly. A slight gear change will help and she'll be tough to run down. ZOOMACHINO (3) ran over the top to score at Northam last time out, winning by 0.4L over 2212m. Chris Parnham sticks with her following her maiden win and she can improve further with that added confidence. AL UNIQUE (1) is racing well without winning and should get his chance from an inside barrier. HIGH PRECISION (7) is better suited back out in trip today and ticks plenty of boxes.
SELECTIONS: Startling Star is the one to beat.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 4 @ 7:58 PM

Competitive. RUNAWAY STATEMENT (4) switched from the Stokes yard in Adelaide and resumed here with a narrow defeat over 1200m in a CL4. Has strong figures this trip, and the premier hoop stays aboard. Strips fitter and is ready to win. RED SPHERE (1) came back to the turf here and delivered a 60 over 1200m. Has his first crack at the longer sprint but hits the race at peak and the in-form Byrne Burke stays in the saddle. This is a step up, but he has scope for further improvement. IT'S JAGGER TIME (5) was beaten a nose first-up off 303 days and then was on-pace winning a CL1 stepping up to this trip. He will be fitter again and has more up his sleeve. A chance to go back-to-back. KAKIA (2) was an easy winner over this trip third-up jumping favourite. Heading in the right direction and will be fancied to repeat. WHIPPIN PICCADILLY (7) brings strong form from the Devonport synthetic in better grade. He placed his only start here, and it was over this distance.
SELECTIONS: Runaway Statement appeals on an each-way basis.
