Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Bathurst, Taree, Pakenham, Ipswich,
Penola and Launceston.

BATHURST: RACE 8 @ 5:22 PM

HOLY HELL (8) is another decent winning chance for the in-form Seib stable. She's raced well in town and placed heavily bet at Wagga before the spell. Resumed with a nose defeat at Moruya as a short-priced favourite and with the extra fitness will take plenty of beating. LYSANDER (11) led beaten a half length at Canberra in a 55 making good improvement. He won't have to find too much more to be in the finish at a decent p[price. EAST HARLEM (9) spiked his numbers just missing at Cootamundra and that reads well enough. Has a handy gate and always puts in. SCOPICS (2) is going okay and has been tried twice in town recently. Has the first-time blinkers applied today and they may spark the improvement required.
SELECTIONS: Backing the promising Holy Hell to win.

TAREE: RACE 6 @ 4:30 PM

BARAZIN (2) won an open handicap at Coffs Harbour under 61kgs on 1 August and has since raced well in Brisbane without winning. Had a five-week let-up before a closing third over 2200m at Doomben last start. Looks terribly hard to stop down on 54.5kgs. IMPERIALIST (1) has failed to threaten in his two runs this prep over shorter trips. Won the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate over this distance last prep. Fitter now and on his best form is superior to this field. CASINO BEAR (4) led for home but was swamped late and missed the frame in the 2000m Port Macquarie Cup last Friday. Form prior to that was difficult to fault. Worth another chance on a seven-day turnaround. FORECASTER (5) is yet to be tested over today's journey. Ran a cheeky race at Port Macquarie last Friday, his second run back from a two-month lay-off. Each-way claims. MR FABULOUS (6) was a little one-paced over 1800m at the Kensington track last time. Can improve out to this journey.
SELECTIONS: Barazin to win a ticket to the Big Dance.

PAKENHAM: RACE 1 @ 6:15 PM

BLUE ISMAY (2) looks the one to beat. He showed promise in two runs last time in, resuming with an encouraging effort at Geelong over 1547m when boxing on well for third. Quickly up in trip but it should suit this stoutly bred gelding and with the added fitness he'll go close. DUNTULM LASS (7) is another very quickly up in trip off two 1400m runs this time in. The fresh run in a strong Sale maiden reads well and if she handles the trip she'll take beating. RUSCELLO (4) had genuine excuses last time when tailed off. Can forgive the run on heavy two back as well. He could be an improver. ALBANIAN BEAUTY (1) perhaps next best.
SELECTIONS: Blue Ismay to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 4 @ 1:12 AM

The well-related SOME STYLE (7) (half to G1 winner Peeping) finally broke the maiden status at the latest effort and will have come on with that win now under the belt. Thompson sticks in the saddle following that last-start victory and looks ready for the step-up in trip now. Very hard to toss. SIAN STAR (2) saves his best form for this circuit with two wins and five placings from just nine spins. Can win without surprising. CANADIAN EXPRESS (4) goes well for hoop Lerena who has two wins and a placing from just four steers. Include in calculations. TAVIS TOWN (1) gets some weight off with the claim and will be cherry-ripe now fourth-up. In the mix. BOVIDAE (5) is usually thereabouts and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Some Style to win again.

PENOLA: RACE 6 @ 5:30 PM

Great race as you'd imagine for the sprint series. THE MAGISTRATE (2) just missed in much tougher class fresh then gave a sight at Morphettville last time. Form good for this grade and will take beating third-up. FREE BEER (1) was a determined fresh-up winner then finished alongside The Magistrate in town last time. Much better drawn here and should feature as well. SOMAURUM (12) is much better than the last couple suggest. Was five deep throughout last time over the border but with a nice weight and draw in this she can find her best form. COOL THE JETS (4) has been out of the money recently including last time out when ninth over 1000m at Morphettville Parks six weeks ago, beaten 3.5 lengths. This much more suitable. Drawn for a soft run and is sure to be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: Follow up on The Magistrate.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 7 @ 9:00 PM

PURR SEFANEE (8) seeks the hat-trick off easy front-running wins (wide gates) at Hobart and Devonport over this distance. She keeps getting better and jumps from the inside barrier today. Stays down in the weights and she rates to go on with the job. ONLY OLD ONCE (7) peaks and the former Victorian found more like her best placing here over 1400m behind Kakia. She's won over a mile and should be right in it. SUGOI LEGEND (1) always puts in and would be a hope putting his best foot forward. MILES 'N' MILES (6) settled last and didn't do a bad job first-up in the same contest. At his best over middle distances, but this trip suits better now and he maps to be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: Backing Purr Sefanee to win.
