Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 16.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Hawkesbury, Goulburn, Warrnambool, Gatton and Northam.
HAWKESBURY: RACE 5 @ 3:42 PM
HORIZONS (3) turned in an eye-catcher first-up then relished the new role of leader last start, putting away a Class 1 field over this distance at Kembla. Gets in on the same weight today and with further improvement in store she can get the job done again. PREFER DIAMONDS (6) is a late bloomer who has collected her maiden win and Class 1 success at her last two appearances, both here at 1500m. Love mares when they hit form so keep her very safe. MAH ALI (7) was gone a long way from home at Newcastle recently when he was stepping up to 1850m. Drops 1.5kgs and is worth another chance coming back to this trip. FULL METAL JACKET (5) did his best work late at Kembla last time and should appreciate this slightly longer trip third-up. JUST SHANE (2) won a similar race to this at Kembla two back before failing in open company last time. Can return to form in this suitable contest.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Horizons.

GOULBURN: RACE 3 @ 3:25 PM
The local Williams yard holds the key. KREON (5) raced in town his first three starts this preparation and then came back home beaten a whisker in this grade bet $2.40F. He led in that and exits from an inside barrier in this. Well-placed to make amends. Stablemate MANWARI (6) brings a string of wins and has delivered comfortably here his last two. Jumped $1.90 the latest and keeps improving. This is stronger but he has to be respected with winning rider McDougall reunited. TONKATSU GODDESS (2) was quickly back on track beaten by 1.4L at Newcastle in better company. The speed-bred mare can use the inside barrier and Collett replaces the apprentice. A serious player. LAMBAY (3) resumes for Canberra's premier stable and is proven fresh. His figures stack up and Owen is a positive jockey engagement. Keep onside.
SELECTIONS: Kreon appeals most.
WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 3 @ 2:30 PM
MISS REVEALING (9) looks the one to beat having debuted in a much stronger maiden at Sandown Hillside over 1300m, trying hard on the pace there to finish within a length of the winner in second. Comes back a notch and while there are some progressive types here, she should have just as much, if not more, upside than any of them and gets every chance from the gun draw. SHADES OF STARDOM (5) hit the line intently first up here to grab a narrow second and should be fitter for it, now suited by the rise to 1400m. Have to respect the local yard and drawn to sit closer. VOUCHERS (6) has been thereabouts in three runs to date, slowly improving with each run. There's been market support for him too and he won't need to improve a whole lot to be challenging. HALF SCOTCH (8) was just fair at Geelong but the return was good and she could improve third up. NO ONE ELSE (3) is going well and has claims.
SELECTIONS: Miss Revealing to win.
GATTON: RACE 1 @ 12:57 PM
DIAMANTINA ROSE (4) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing in all four career outings to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Yoshida has been in the irons for all four starts so far and sticks today. Rates the testing material against this lot. HASANA (5) resumes but showed glimpses of ability in her first preparation and has tuned up for this with a recent trial. Looms as the main danger. BOLD LOUIE (1) is facing the starter for the first time but wasn't too far away in a recent trial and any market support must be noted. I'LLTELLYOUAFTER (9) looks to be improving with racing and gets in light with the claim. In the mix. CASUAL MAN (2) will be at peak fitness now and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Diamantina Rose to break through.
