Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 14.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Armidale, Murwillumbah and Ballarat.
ARMIDALE: RACE 7 @ 5:30 PM
CHESTIME (8) improved sharply second-up to score at Gunnedah in style and looks set to keep progressing. Draws kindly and can win again. BARCELONA EXPRESS (3) is going better than his form suggests and should be hitting his straps now fourth-up. Is already a track and trip winner and is drawn to get the gun run. Must be taken seriously. PUZZLE DESIGNER (1) is ready to strike third-up after two solid runs back. Gets a key booking in Bullock who will be putting his skills to the test from the wide draw. EJECT (2) bounced back to winning form when scoring by a nose over 1600m at Moree last start and rates a chance in this field.
SELECTIONS: Chestime to win again.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Armidale Computer Card.
MURWILLUMBAH: RACE 2 @ 2:45 PM
MOFEED (2) is a consistent conveyance who has hit the top-four at his past nine starts and strikes a very winnable contest here. Rates the testing material against this line-up. DUSAN (1) loves it here around this circuit with two wins and a placing from just three spins. Gets some weight relief with the 3kg claim and looms as the main danger. MISS MOLOKAI (5) has been right there in six of her past seven starts and will be rock-hard fit for this. Top-three candidate on best form. BOWDARCIE (6) has placed over this course and distance and will get a soft run in transit from gate two. In the mix for some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Backing Mofeed.
BALLARAT: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
THE GRUMPY BEAR (2) brought strong relative form to resumption and was beaten a half length at Kilmore bet $3. Settled back from the wide gate and then didn't get a clear go at them until late in the race. Draws better today in easier and can win with the extra fitness. WELCOMETOTHESHOW (1) followed his Maiden success with a win in a 62 in Adelaide where he impressed after settling last and covering plenty of ground. Has an awkward barrier to manage again, but the 3kg claim brings him right into it. The speedy LET'S TROT (3) was plain last time in a 62 but led beaten 1.3L on the synthetic prior in a 64. That's more an indication of his ability and he will hit this at peak. Uses the inside gate and will get every chance with a 4kg claimer engaged. POETIC STORM (7) did a good job from the back beaten 1L at Tatura first up at this level and is in the mix building on that.
SELECTIONS: Backing The Grumpy Bear.
