Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 11.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Eagle Farm, Murray Bridge and Ascot.
ROSEHILL: RACE 2 @ 1:10 PM
MODELLA (5) brings outstanding form lines to this BM72. Turned in an eye-catcher first-up over 1200m here then chased home Manaal and others in the Racing And Sports Golden Pendant over this course and distance a fortnight ago, beaten just 3.4 lengths. Only needs to hold that form to be winning this. ALABAMA STATE (1) hit the lead and looked the winner only to be claimed late when resuming last time out in a 1300m Midway at this track. Yet to fill a placing in three second-up runs which is a concern, but this looks a nice race for him. DIRECT FIRE (6) raced handy and only tired in the closing stages last time out when second-up. Goes well at this stage of the prep and his 1400m record is sound. Nice chance at odds. VETWELVE (2) beat many of today's rivals home here last start when fresh from a six-week break. Will tighten right up following that run and should be in the finish. STRAWBERRY IMPACT (12) steps up in grade but has been impressive in two runs at the provincials this prep.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Modella.

CAULFIELD: RACE 2 @ 12:50 PM
Siding with the new blood here which could be TRES MAGNIFIQUE (15) who was ultra-impressive to the eye on debut at Ballarat over 1000m, getting back before ripping home down the outside in fast time to score. They ran nearly a second faster than the older horses on the card and 1200m should only suit better. No doubt this is harder, but she can measure up strongly. POINT BARROW (5) is the one to beat. Two wins to start the campaign were very good before getting too far back in the G3 Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley and charging home to run third. She'll likely be back but with one bend out of the chute, she can race wide and take holding out. VEIN GIRL (2) was first up in the same race, getting a nice run and boxing on well for a narrow fourth. Fitter now, she'll roll forward and give a sight. Respecting SURF'S UP (6) for McDonald & Waller off a smart maiden win in Sydney. VIVID SUN (7) is a query back to 1200m but has plenty of ability.
SELECTIONS: Tres Magnifique to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 4 @ 2:28 PM
The penny has dropped for VOODOO LASS (2) who has put back-to-back victories together over this distance range and looks very well-placed in this line-up. Gets the services of Maloney in the irons and can bring up the hat-trick without surprising. HA'PENNY HATCH (1) is a winner over this track and trip and should be ready to peak now third-up from the break. Looms as the main danger. QUEEN JEDDAH (7) has just run into one better in both starts to date and looks the be building up to a maiden win. Expect a positive performance. WORTHY ENUFF (5) gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claim and may earn some minor money. SWEET PRETENDER (4) next in line.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Voodoo Lass.
MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 4 @ 2:47 PM
Small field but a quality race. FANCIFY (1) won this race last year before heading to Melbourne to win a G3 during Cup Week. If her last start placing in the Wylie Handicap is a guide, she's going even better this year and looks the one to beat. She will go forward and take catching. PRESS DOWN (2) is a proven Stakes winner that will be fitter for his first-up run. He gets weight off the favourite with the 2kg claim and is an obvious top three chance. MY KHALIFA (5) ran an improved race finishing midfield last start at Morphettville at very long odds. Wort thought for wider plays. COTEHELE (6) can improve on the first-up run.
SELECTIONS: Backing Fancify to win.
ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 6:10 PM
ASPHALT (4) burst onto the scene last campaign, winning three on-end in good figures. They were all on wet tracks however, and he'll have to do it on top of the ground today. Hard to ignore the way in which he did it however, and he'll be hard to beat if he can pick up where he left off. HYMNS OF ELADDAIR (1) resumed in strong order when coming over the top to win by 0.3L after being slowly away. He'll be better for that performance and the rise in trip is no issue. Can go back-to-back. GREAT EMOTION (11) stuck on well over 1200m last start but was no match for the winner, beaten 2.8L. Now third-up and out to 1400m looks a good move. She did win over 1300m first-up in April, so if she can improve out in trip, she'll be right in the finish. CENTRE BOND (6) was no match for a dominant winner last start but he was best of the rest. Strong claims off his recent efforts. I'M CRAFTY (5) surprised first-up but can build on that performance.
SELECTIONS: Asphalt gets the nod.
