Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 7.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Goulburn, Newcastle, Mildura and Kilcoy.
GOULBURN: RACE 1 @ 1:35 PM
DEE DEE EXPRESS (3) wound up strongly to finish 1.3L adrift over 1000m at Canberra on debut. The speed-bred mare is in the sharp Matt Dale yard and is sure to have come on. She sets a decent standard. GLENN'S LEGACY (5) returned from a spell at Moruya three weeks ago and was in the firing line before tiring late beaten 3.5L. Strips fitter and Brock Ryan stays aboard. He's been kept up to the mark with a trial and is sure to stick on better. STORMY REIGN (7) has had two runs for the Pepper yard and didn't have much luck first-up. Maps better today and at her first two starts she showed promise when in the care of Bjorn Baker. Quick improvement is likely. Wary of WHOOPI DO (8), who debuts for the Potter yard with Collett a key jockey engagement. She was beaten 1L in a recent Canberra trial and maps for the run of the race.
SELECTIONS: Backing Dee Dee Express.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 6 @ 2:55 PM
KOIOS (1) looks primed to fire fresh after two sharp trial wins leading in. Forget his final two runs last prep when clearly at the end, his earlier form was rock-solid and he now finds a very winnable race first-up. Maps for the gun run and can make an immediate impact. AUTUMN BLONDE (2) drops sharply in class after contesting the G2 Tea Rose and looks far better placed here. Boasts the race fitness edge and is an obvious threat. VALIANT BOMB (3) resumes off two nice trials and showed good ability in his debut prep. Draws kindly and can be right in the finish. AMARETTO BO (4) wasn't as effective last time but returns to where he bolted in first-up. Capable of bouncing straight back. TONG HO (5) can fill a minor placing if he brings his A-game.
SELECTIONS: Koios to return a winner.
MILDURA: RACE 3 @ 2:00 PM
HYDE PARK CORNER (6) has been good in two runs to date and looks to have found the perfect maiden to be breaking through. The debut in town was good before a close up fifth at Bendigo. He just needs to hold a spot from the gate to be winning. HONEY MAKER (3) wasn't far away first up here when in the market over 1009m. That trip was always going to be sharp so rising to 1200m should suit and she can be competitive. ZEAMAIZE (2) has just found one better at all three runs this time in, good again out to 1400m last time. Back in trip here but he draws well and will be strong late. MONIX (1) is knocking on the door of late over shorter trips. Slight query to 1200m but can give cheek. OF THE VIEW (4) resumes and will get further but has the ability.
SELECTIONS: Hyde Park Corner to win.
KILCOY: RACE 2 @ 3:12 PM
MUCHACHO (1) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top-five in all four starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Just ran into one better at Dalby last time out and Thompson sticks in the saddle following that last-start placing. Rates the testing material. TWILIGHT STEPS (4) has placed three from three around this circuit and gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claim. Nicely placed to play a major role. HAPPY COFFEE (12) has placed one from one over this track and trip and will find this easier than recent outings. In the mix. THE IMMORTALS (3) didn't measure up in town at the latest effort but go on the placing over this course and distance two back. Can bounce back. RUBOS (2) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Muchacho to break the maiden status.
