Beiwacht secured his place at stud with a track-record win in last Saturday's Golden Rose, enhancing the prospects of a stallion who will most likely be a Darley barnmate when his racing career is over.

The Godolphin colt will forever be the first Group 1 winner for his sire, Bivouac.

Beiwacht followed in the footsteps of his father, a son of Exceed And Excel who won the Golden Rose in 2019.

"It's a huge result for a first-crop sire like Bivouac," Godolphin Australia racing and bloodstock manager Jason Walsh said.

"He was a triple Group 1 winner by a champion sire of two-year-olds.

"Beiwacht is now a serious stallion prospect in his own right and what a wonderful way to start Bivouac's stallion career."

Beiwacht, who was also the first Australian Group winner for Bivouac thanks to his win in the Group 2 Silver Slipper, was one of 123 live foals from 157 covers in Bivouac's first season, when his fee was $66,000.

He stood for the same fee the following two years, when he covered 135 and 106 mares, while he had his fee reduced to $55,000 in 2024, which is also his fee for this year.

Beiwacht's dam Metastasio visited Bivouac in his first two seasons with the second trip resulting in a filly who has been named Café Reine and, like Beiwacht, is in the care of Chris Waller.

After foaling Café Reine, Metastasio was covered by Microphone before being sold for $110,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions National Broodmare.

Hirsch Racing purchased Metastasio, a daughter of Street Cry who is from the Singspiel mare Libretto, and last year sent her to Benbatl.

Beiwacht is one of six to race from Metastasio, who is also the dam of Listed winner Gravina (Sebring) and is a half-sister to Hallowed Crown mare Colette, winner of the Golden Eagle and an ATC Oaks and Empire Rose Stakes at the highest level.
