Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 28.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Mornington, Swan Hill, Sunshine Coast, Strathalbyn, Devonport and Toodyay.
DUBBO: RACE 6 @ 2:54 PM
Six-year-old WHERE'STHEPROFIT (9) has only been to the races six times. Both runs this prep have resulted in narrow defeats, the latest over 1200m at Scone when he missed by a long neck in a Class 3. Back in grade today and his two career wins have come from his only two runs at 1100m. Looks the goods from gate one. BLEND OF THREE (1) returned this prep under new trainer Cameron Crockett and has gone two-for-two, most recently an easy all-the-way win over 1200m at Mudgee. Capable of taking this next step. SHIPSHAPE (8) is without a win for well over two years but is rarely far away, including a couple of sound recent efforts in Highways. A must for exotics. SORRENTO PALACE (13) impressed first-up at Wellington and cannot be ruled out.
SELECTIONS: Where'stheprofit to win a good Class 2.

PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM
SUMO FISH (3) resumes since contesting the Country Championships Final where he didn't fire. Won four races here and can perform fresh. From the inside barrier he'll be hard to hold out if he gets a shot at them. BOMAREA (1) has the big weight to contend with but she's a sharp mare trained here and drawn to be ridden to her strengths. Sure to give a big sight. MARKWELL DREAMER (4) doesn't win out of turn but he's regularly around the placings as was the case last time at Tamworth. Each-way chance as usual. BUCK PHAROAH (2) is consistent and can run well again while SUPER IMPRESSIVE (7) is worth keeping an eye on.
SELECTIONS: Sumo Fish to win. Save on Bomarea.
MORNINGTON: RACE 1 @ 1:25 PM
EMPIRE OF PAIN (2) is a lightly raced mare who looks nicely placed getting out to a mile third up. The return at Cranbourne in a handy Class 1 was very good before just being outdashed in the sprint home at Seymour. She's open to further improvement and maps well getting to what looks her best trip. SAVILLA (1) was a smart winner fresh before stepping up in grade quickly to BM74 company at Moonee Valley and just being found out when given a good chance by the market. She'll be better for that and this suits. They look the clear two. THE MARG FACTOR (3) needs to find her best form, but if she can do so, she'll be hard to catch. BON FETE (4) was just fair fresh but will be fitter.
SELECTIONS: Empire Of Pain/Savilla exacta.
SWAN HILL: RACE 4 @ 2:50 PM
PHAROAH'S GLORY (8) brought strong form and followed a solid placing first-up win a near miss at Ballarat over 1400m. That's good form and she has more up her sleeve. Just needs average luck pushing forward from the awkward barrier. John Allen is off the above to stick with DIVINE CLEMENTINE (5) who will show more third-up. She also draws out and should be hitting the line late. DIFFERENT GRAVY (12) is another likely improver. He'd come off a try at Stakes level and found the sprint too short at Sandown-Hillside first-up. The mile suits, and he'll get a soft run from an inside barrier. SASTERION (2) resumes for a strong stable and has shown enough to consider. He's had four jumpouts and this is a nice starting point for a galloper who will feature over further. BAUDIN (14) will improve this trip and shouldn't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Pharoah's Glory appeals.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:29 PM
JAGGERY (8) resumes here but the form he showed when last in work was good enough for a race of this calibre. Is yet to miss a quinella spot in four attempts over this track and trip and has tuned up for this with a recent trial. Gets in light with the 3kg claim and rates the testing material. MERCIAN (3) has been just behind the placegetters in both runs this campaign and will be ready to peak now third-up from the break. Looms as the main danger. CAXTON LASS (5) doesn't win out of turn but that sole victory did come over this course and distance and will be better for that first-up hit-out. Top-three aspirations. The well-related BILLY BOOM (1) (half to G3 winner Metalart) is another first-up but can run a race while fresh. DASHING HOPE (6) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Jaggery to return a winner.
STRATHALBYN: RACE 4 @ 3:33 PM
The apprentice riders do battle here so you can expect plenty of speed. COCKATOO ROSE (6) has won two from three at the track and distance and expect her to be heard to beat in this. She draws perfectly and Brooke King knows her well. She's the top seed. MONDELLO (8) looks the big danger. She also draws low and is coming off a confidence-boosting four-length maiden win. She will hold a spot and take some running down with the claim. TOP OF THE RIDGE (3) is lightly raced and might be ready to show something in this grade after tackling harder races so far this preparation. GRINZINGER ACE (11) looks well placed and is a top-three chance, while EMPIRE GRACE (7) might be able to run a big race first-up.
SELECTIONS: Backing Cockatoo Rose to win.
DEVONPORT SYNTHETIC: RACE 5 @ 3:20 PM
GEEGEES MISSILE (4) led and won her Maiden here first-up, backed off the map. She'd come off a near miss in Stakes grade and has been freshened and kept up to the mark with a trial. Has the rail and the leading rider engaged and she can go on with the job. TURBO CHOOK (1) had been well trialled and won comfortably here on debut. He's sure to build on that, and despite the step-up, he can't be ruled out. STROAK OF ART (2) won here on debut by an even bigger margin, and he also has plenty of scope for improvement. PLATINUM REGGAE (3) needed the first up run. Her best would see her competitive but she may need another. COOL CONQUEST (5) tries hard but is finding it hard to win.
SELECTIONS: Backing Geegees Missile to win.
TOODYAY: RACE 6 @ 5:10 PM
POLYVANOVA (7) looks to have found a suitable race first-up on the back of a nice trial at Belmont recently. She disappointed at the end of last campaign, but her form around this trip prior was very impressive. Maps to get every chance for Watson and she can return on a winning note. SNIP OF GOSSIP (4) handled the Heavy conditions first-up to score by 0.9L over a similar trip at Belmont first-up. He needs a touch of luck from the barrier, but he rates highly on the fresh effort and it wouldn't surprise to see him go back-to-back. SCENIC BOOM (5) can improve dropping in grade today and a much better run is anticipated. HESKET (2) is next best.
SELECTIONS: Polyvanova looks the one to beat.
