Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 21.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Nowra, Flemington, Sunshine Coast, Kalgoorlie and Mount Gambier.
NOWRA: RACE 5 @ 4:15 PM
SWEET WARRIOR (8) had to do some work to hold the fence and lead on debut at Canberra and did a good job to hold them off. Can only be better and if she can get an easier passage she could easily repeat. XANADU MISS (2) was going well before failing on a heavy 10 in a Highway at Randwick where she drew out and went back and didn't get into it at all. Expect her to run a much better race. CHILLI CRAB (3) went to the front as favourite and kept going to win at Queanbeyan second-up. Draw hurts a little but likely tries to lead and can give a sight. PRETTY CHEEKY (4) and EXPLOSIUVE TORNADO (1) have place claims at least.
SELECTIONS: Sweet Warrior to win. Save on Xanadu Miss.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 2 @ 2:00 PM
THERE WERE ROSES (2) caught the eye with a big finish on debut at Sandown Hillside, a long way back off a strong tempo and rattling home to just miss over 1500m. The winner there is the Victoria Derby favourite and entered in Race 7. She'll relish 1800m although the small field and lack of tempo may be the biggest issue. SEYCHELLES (4) ran a nice race on debut at Geelong over 1512m when getting into third as a well supported commodity. She's another looking for a trip and she gets Shinn aboard. CLASSIC GEM (3) has been around the mark in three runs to date and is in the mix again. Watch the betting for a guide to debutant DON'T DOUBT DARE (6) for the sharp yard.
SELECTIONS: There Were Roses to win.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:30 PM
Former Price/Kent Jnr-prepared galloper KEITEL (1) was well found when having his first run for the new stable but just ran into a couple better at Doomben. Will have come on with that run now under the belt and gets 1.5kg off from the inside alley. Ticks plenty of boxes for a race like this. DON PEDRO (2) has won three from six over this distance range and will strip fitter third-up from the break. Looms as the main danger. LIBERTY STEPS (6) has a handy record here on his home circuit with two wins and two placings from six spins. Top-three credentials on best form. BILLIONAIR BABY (5) boasts a win over this course and distance and will find this easier than recent Saturday metro efforts. Capable of a better showing.
SELECTIONS: Backing Keitel.
KALGOORLIE: RACE 4 @ 5:00 PM
JUST FAMOUS (1) won well two back before a 0.7L defeat when dropping back to 1200m last start and just leaving his run too late. Back up in trip slightly today is a big key and the claim of Nottle comes in handy. Can bounce back to winning ways in this suitable event. ADDICTIVE DREAM (6) had been rather plain in two runs this time in, though both have been in stronger company than this. Now third-up and back to Provincial level, she looks ready to bounce back with the aid of the inside draw. Pike sticks and she looks the main danger. CHIPILLY (7) got a long way back last start and never got into the race over 1200m. Back up in trip today looks ideal and Fiore now hops back in the saddle. Can roll forward as she has done previously and give a bold sight. JAYASHREE (2) will be better over further, but brings some strong NSW metropolitan form into this. Can't be discounted. PENNED (3) won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Just Famous.
MT GAMBIER: RACE 7 @ 6:45 PM
GIRLS NIGHT (7) is chasing three wins in a row and finds a winnable race. She draws well and Alana Kelly will have options to either lead or take a sit. She looks the one to beat again and an easy one to mark on top. If you forgive the last start failure of LICHESTER (9) in a harder race, it's easy to make a case that she can bounce back. She was a winner two starts ago and has also won at this track and distance. TRIOMPHE (1) looks progressive but must overcome the wide gate, while MELISSA KATE (10) must always be respected in these sorts of races. Right in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Girls Night to win again.
