Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 02.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Scone, Nowra, Benalla and Townsville.
SCONE: RACE 5 @ 3:55 PM
SOCIAL CIRCLE (9) exciting Maurice filly resuming. Smashed the clock on debut when leading throughout as fav for a commanding victory over 1000m at Quirindi last February. Fitted with the two trials in readiness for this and has the speed to overcome the wide gate. Expected to go on with it this preparation. EDGE OF MIDNIGHT (5) further improved third up and a win looks imminent. Shuffled back from the inside gate and warmed up late when fourth over 1000m at Tamworth. Placed here and will be closing late. QUICK SHARP (7) resumes with solid first up credentials. Jumped in grade when ninth in the John Clift over 1000m at Tamworth on April 24. Given the one trial and capable of rolling forward. STIORRA (12) no match for the progressive Shirvington on resumption when fifth over 1100m at Wyong in BM64 class. Minor place contender.
SELECTIONS: Social Circle to remain undefeated.

NOWRA: RACE 3 @ 2:25 PM
JACKPOT STAR (4) showed sharp early speed last time and boxed on strongly when runner-up at Goulburn. Will be nearing peak fitness third-up off two good efforts since a spell and looks primed to strike. MOLTEUNO (8) comes off a stylish maiden success at Goulburn. Still learning but has clear upside and with Guymer staying in the saddle she shapes as a serious contender. ARTIFACTX (2) resumes after five months and has shown he can run well fresh, placing first-up last prep at Orange. Found the line nicely in recent trial. Can make his presence felt. NINGALOO REEF (1) is capable of a much stronger showing second-up. Keeping safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing Jackpot Star to win.
BENALLA: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM
MAKAMAE (9) brought strong form to resumption and just missed at Cranbourne over a mile. She was expected to win stepping up to this trip at Wodonga after and was plain on a heavy track (vet cleared). Gets in well with the 3kg claim and has been kept on the fresh side. In good hands and she's worth another chance. THUNDERING FALCON (7) just missed at Geelong and is still shy of his best. Has to come back 300m but maps well and is a player. TOP ARCTIC (5) just missed at Wangaratta following the Maiden win and he'll get every chance positioning forward from an inside barrier. DURBAN HARBOUR (3) was close up in the same contest and has a 3kg claimer aboard today. That brings him into it.
SELECTIONS: Going with Makamae.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 1 @ 1:34 PM
CHARM TELLER (9) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing at her past four starts and strikes a very winnable contest here. Strips fitter second-up and Cormack sticks in the irons following that first-up placing. Rates the testing material. COMBAT CRUSADER (1) returns from a lengthy spell but put in a career-best performance before the break and has tuned up for this with a recent trial. Top-hope if back in good order. SPRING'S GIFT (10) has had a few chances but has placed four of six over this track and trip and must be included in calculations. NATIONAL GOAL (4) is having his first run for the new stable and any market support must be noted. ARIK LAD (11) best of the rest from the inside alley.
SELECTIONS: Charm Teller each-way.
