Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 01.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Port Macquarie, Wellington and Ballarat.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 6 @ 4:25 PM
SHOW 'EM HOWL (3) has his hoof on the till fifth up with the blinkers coming off and the winkers going on. Never fully comfortable in the heavy (8) going when holding on late to secure second over this track and trip. Regular rider hops back aboard and doesn't have to improve much to win this. KEEP AT 'EM (5) just over a month between runs when a respectable fourth to Dale over 1500m at Muswellbrook. Has further upside now and the blinkers go on for the first time. In leading yard and gets his chance. SPIRITLY (8) kept fresh for this after battling with the 60kg when a plugging fifth over 1614m at Taree. Won here two back and will appreciate the weight drop. Looks up to the stiffer test. CLUEDO (4) had mixed fortunes in three runs this time in and no shock to see her bounce back on the improving track.
SELECTIONS: Show 'Em Howl gets his chance.

WELLINGTON: RACE 5 @ 4:10 PM
ANGIE'S SISTER (4) is holding her form well, backing up a recent win here with a solid third at Muswellbrook. Will likely drift back from the wide draw and let them run along early before letting rip late. SORRENTO PALACE (6) resumes and her previous form lines read strongly for a race of this nature. Well drawn and gets a positive rider engagement, suggesting she's ready to fire fresh. GLOWING RAPIDS (5) went down narrowly when resuming as favourite at Gilgandra over 800m. Fitter for that and is among the key chances. ROMANTIC LOVE (1) could be ready to peak after an improved effort for second last time out.
SELECTIONS: Going with Angie's Sister.
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 1 @ 1:30 PM
SPIRIT OF GAIA (4) profiles well for this contest, with four runs under her belt; she can atone for a recent third-placed effort at this track and distance. Her career best figures have come over this distance, so she'll be hard to beat. DANUBE (8) presents for the new stable first up from a long spell. Her debut rating was solid behind some talented gallopers, and she has trialled stylishly leading into this campaign. She can make her presence felt. CRYING COUGAR (1) rated well on debut over 900m and then regressed second up. He has trialled behind a subsequent winner and will run well. YATCHAW (6) has trialled well and can break through.
SELECTIONS: Backing SPIRIT OF GAIA.
