Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 23.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Moonee Valley, Eagle Farm, Belmont and Morphettville Parks.
RANDWICK: RACE 4 @ 1:25 PM
KERGUELEN (2) just over a month between runs for this and since fitted with a 905m tick over trial. Comes out of a very strong race after surging late from back in the field when second to King Of Roseau over 1300m. Relishes the heavy going and finds his race today. IRON MAN (6) win record hardly excites, and another just over a month between runs. Hit the line with intent when a close up second to Yoshinobu over 1200m at Rosehill. Will be doing his best work late. POINT AND SHOOT (1) nice type who progressed quickly last preparation. Finished a respectable eighth in the G1 Australian Guineas over 1600m at Flemington last March. Has the two trials under the belt and look for him late. BOLTSAVER (9) holding form with the big weights in Victoria and looks perfectly placed for this in the going.
SELECTIONS: Kerguelen to stamp his authority in the going.

MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 4 @ 2:55 PM
MAISY (11) was 1400m to 2000m last start, and that proved costly for her. With a much more favourable set-up, she can bounce back and return to the winner's circle on Saturday. She can settle in a prominent map position and be best placed when the sprint goes on. RISE TO IT (6) is a consistent galloper who never runs a bad race and is certainly well placed in this grade over 2040m. GENRICHERO (7) has been building to something this preparation, and now fourth up, he's ready to peak. He made a lot of ground on a track favouring inside runners last start. BUR DUBAI (2) is only second up here, but will drastically improve as his races get longer. The rise to 2040m will certainly suit him after a promising first-up run last start.
SELECTIONS: Backing Maisy.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 8 @ 4:02 PM
Looks a race with a stack of chances. KADALL (7) has a solid record over this seven-furlong journey with two wins and five placings from just nine starts and doesn't know how to run a bad race. Has placed two from two around this circuit and is drawn to get a cosy run in transit from gate two. Can get a well-deserved victory. BOOM SHOT (13) has placed five of seven at this track and will be ready to peak now third-up from the spell. Top-three aspirations. LARRIKIN ROGUE (11) has a win and four placings from seven outings here and is usually thereabouts. In the mix. FORMAL DISPLAY (6) is an import for the Archibald camp and any market confidence must be noted.
SELECTIONS: Kadall each-way.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 3:58 PM
YORGA PRIDE (2) returned with a strong victory at this track and trip in Open 3YO grade, running a big figure in the process. This is probably an easier race on paper and she looks destined for much better races than this. Nicely weighted after the claim of Cooper and she can score again. SURROUND ME (9) got back to winning ways last start when winning in a photo finish here 17 days ago. Tougher here, but the figure from last start stacks up nicely and she can go close. MEAN FEAT (4) arrives off a win and does so with a nice strong rating attached to that perfomance. Clearly Belmont works for him and if he can repeat the dose on speed here then he is going to give them something to get by.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Yorga Pride.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 9 @ 5:30 PM
Open race to end the day. Happy to be with LONRODEX (1) on an each-way basis. He's clearly the highest-rated horse in the race and isn't in too badly after the 3kg claim for an in-form Matt Chadwick. He wasn't far away last week and his prior form on the Parks track is good enough to win this. WARPARTY (5) was placed behind a couple of smart horses last time and is open to further improvement at only his second run for the new stable. ANOTHERHOUSE (6) hasn't won this campaign but he hasn't been far away from good horses, while NURYS (2) just keeps racing well and is sure to be hitting the line again.
SELECTIONS: Backing Lonrodex each-way.
