Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 19.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Scone, Albury, Ballarat and Dalby.
SCONE: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM
Another tough contest with plenty of chances. PENINSULA (10) progressive Snitzel gelding who continued where he left off last campaign when an authoritative 3 len winner over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Expected to keep the winning run continuing. Maps to get every chance. SPANDEX (15) starting to put it all together now after winning his last two starts in good style. Back in trip after leading throughout when scoring as fav over 1600m at this track. Genuine top-three contender. TO BE FRANK (2) racing in a rich vein of form and has his first start on the Scone track. Will benefit with the claim from the inside gate after going narrowly under when second over 1610m at Grafton. Sure to be thereabouts. GREAT POINT (12) returns from a let-up. Will find this more to her liking after racing without luck in Highway company at her last two starts. Assess on her solid victory three runs back at Tamworth. Each way.
SELECTIONS: Stick with Peninsula.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Scone Computer Card.
ALBURY: RACE 7 @ 5:15 PMD
EEPWATER ARTIST (2) won on debut here last month and then was only beaten by a head at Wagga-Riverside just over 2 weeks ago, finishing second. He will relish the extra furlong and the superior draw, so stick with him on top. SISTER SHAY (4) made solid progress last prep and capped off her good form with a well-deserved win here near the end of April. She will be even stronger this season, and with a couple of tune-up trials under her belt, she will be among the hardest to beat fresh up in this. OLLANDIA BEACH (1) improved in each of his starts since making his debut in June, and lifted strongly to score by a head at Echuca last time out. He still has more to offer, and even from a wide gate, he can figure in the top 3 here as well. ANTIDOTE (5) did well in her initial prep, winning the last of 3 starts at Benalla to clear her maiden status. She needed her resuming run, and is worth including in all combinations. WILD ANNIE (10) was a deserved all the way maiden winner last start.
SELECTIONS: Deepwater Artist can take this out
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
SHE'S SPEEDY (8) peaks and has been beaten a whisker here at her last two. She was heavily bet off a wide gate last time and the speedy mare has the inside barrier today. Coffey stays aboard and she can go one better. FONDLED (5) found Missile Girl 1.8L too good here on debut. She didn't have the best of it and had won a trial at the track prior. With average luck from the widest barrier, she can fight out the finish. LEXTON (1) resumes and showed enough on debut at Geelong two back to give him a chance. Owns two sharp jumpouts at the track and has an inside barrier. He's sure to have come on. PURSUANT (10) debuts for a smart barn and has jumped out well. Keep onside.
SELECTIONS: Backing She's Speedy.
DALBY: RACE 1 @ 12:12 PM
MR WORTHINGTON (2) has hit the top-five in all four starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Matheson sticks in the saddle following that first-up placing and should be going very close to shedding the maiden tag against this lot. NASIRON (3) just missed the placings at Gatton last time out and looks to be getting better with racing. Looms as a serious threat. LOS ALAMITOS (1) was in the market on debut but didn't get to show his wares. Respect any market confidence. VIPER ROOM (4) put in a career-best performance last time out and is drawn to get a soft run from the inside alley. In the mix. PEQUENA DIVA (7) hails from a handy barn and may improve enough to feature in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Mr Worthington to break the maiden status.
