Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 16.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Doomben, Morphettville Parks and Belmont.
ROSEHILL: RACE 10 @ 4:55 PM
GATSBY'S (15) frustrating type gelded over the break. Won't know himself with just the 51.5kg to carry after racing in Group company last time in. Fitted with the two trials and worth noting both his wins were first up. Goes close. BUNKER HUT (10) ran a gritty fourth on resumption over the 1200m here. Kept fresh and since fitted with a 1044m tick over trial. Sure to be thereabouts. PERFUMIST (12) classy mare resuming. Went quickly through her grades last time in and returns with the two good trials. LORD PENMAN (13) resumes and having his first start for the Waller yard. Nice Contributer gelding with the four wins from seven starts in New Zealand. Has the two trials and gelded over the break.
SELECTIONS: Gatsby's to return a winner.

CAULFIELD: RACE 6 @ 3:25 PM
SCENIC POINT (4) is an ultra-talented filly that's only been to the track in two starts but has promised immense potential. She won in fast time on a fast track last start, and the market has an incredibly strong opinion of her. She is a deserving favourite in this field. MY GLADIOLA (3) her debut was something to behold, winning in fast time and dashing into Blue Diamond favouritism. She lost form after that, but her debut rating still holds firm. She's a key player in this field. SIGNATURE SCENT (6) has been awesome in two runs to date, winning on both occasions. She has the fitness edge over her opposition, but potentially doesn't have the rating yet. THE PLAYWRIGHT (1) is an honest on pacer who will give a bold sight. BLUE HOTEL (5) made a sharp debut in South Australia and can improve here at start two.
SELECTIONS: My Gladiola appeals.
DOOMBEN: RACE 2 @ 12:18 PM
ZOOLOGY (2) is one from one over this course and distance and is racing very consistently of late. Gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Rates the testing material against this line-up. EL PENSADOR (6) has a solid record around this circuit with a win and three placings from just five spins. Will be rock-hard fit for this and may make his presence felt. THE RIGHT WAY (5) didn't measure up in Listed company two back before hitting the frame at Eagle Farm at the latest outing. Include with the claim. AGE OF KINGS (3) next best with the Waller/Maloney combination.
SELECTIONS: Backing Zoology.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 4 @ 1:52 PM
HIGH SOCIETY GIRL (9) is a handy stayer and she can be forgiven for her below-par run on a bottomless track last start. Her prior form is good enough for this. She is drawn to get a soft run and will appreciate some give in the ground. She can bounce back. PARADISE STORM (1) comes across from Victoria and has obvious claims. He was an eye-catcher in a similar race two starts ago and a repeat effort gives him a great each-way chance here. LAVISH THINKER (6) mixes his form but he does look a top-three chance on his better recent form. GOLIOTUS (3) can definitely run well again, albeit he is better placed on a heavy track. CHANCE TAKEN (10) has a bit of upside but his form is patchy.
SELECTIONS: Backing High Society Girl to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 5:00 PM
IMMORTAL BLISS (3) justified the short quote with a dominant win at Northam in his WA debut, bolting in by 2.4L. He looks above average off that win and he looks suitably placed in a 1MW event for Pike, with his ratings indicating he's up to better. Maps for the gun run and can go back-to-back. SNOW GOD (8) has just missed in both runs this time in work, finishing 0.9L off the winner on the quick turnaround here last start. Back in trip now, but draws to find a handy spot in the run after bumping into a smart one last start. Expected to make his presence felt. NONESOSPICY (4) progressed nicely last campaign, winning an Open 3YO event at Ascot over this trip before a spell. Her trials have been solid coming in and the Winkers go on first time today. Still has plenty of upside and can resume on a positive note. SCULLY (5) comes into this off a freshen and won't be far away from the inside gate. MILITARY POWER (1) was too good last start in an easier race and is not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Immortal Bliss looks the one to beat.
