Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 05.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Moruya, Wodonga and Rockhampton.
MORUYA: RACE 6 @ 4:10 PM
VERMICELLA (7) jumped favourite here last start and was gunned down late after a strong run first-up in Midweek company. Third-up now and a third-up winner in the past, she looks ready to go one better. May still have more improvement to come and she's clearly the one to beat. ACHESON (9) showed glimpses earlier this campaign before dropping right back in trip off a freshen last start. Back up to 1435m now is a good move and he'll handle the heavy going. Can put his best foot forward now and he may represent some value. DOLZINO (11) just missed last start in a BM58 as the race favourite after taking on Highway company two back. The draw isn't ideal, however he's racing in good order at this level and he can land the knockout blow. DUBAI CENTRE (3) can continue his winning form.
SELECTIONS: Vermicella looks the one to beat.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Moruya Computer Card.
WODONGA: RACE 1 @ 12:00 PM
ABOVE ME (8) looks the one to beat. She's a well-bred mare who ran a good race on debut at Seymour over 1000m, sticking on nicely for third when well supported in betting. She'll be better for that with winning form out of the race already. Rates highly. DA PLANE DA PLANE (3) presents third up having improved nicely second up getting to this trip. A repeat of that effort onto turf goes a fair way in this. INKAANTOON (9) has placed in both runs back from a spell, beaten two lengths on heavy going at Kilmore last start. Drawn well and should be at peak fitness. WITH STRENGTH (7) ran well on debut at Albury over 900m. Has to run the trip but is by Grunt so that should be okay and he draws for every chance.
SELECTIONS: Above Me to win.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 1 @ 1:20 PM
DESARAE DOLL (4) looks very well placed here. Has hit the top-four in all three starts to date including a close-up second at Townsville last time out. Strikes a very winnable contest and should be going close to shedding the maiden tag. TENNYSON MISS (6) wasn't disgraced at this circuit on debut and will have derived a stack of benefit from that race day experience. Draws the inside alley and may make her presence felt. DUBBLE HUSSLE (7) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome at the latest effort but the Toowoomba run on debut was good enough for a race of this nature. In the mix. NORDIC INVADER (3) will find this easier than what he's been facing recently and looks one for the multiples. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE (5) is at the races for the first time and any market support must be respected.
SELECTIONS: Backing Desarae Doll.
