Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 01.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Coffs Harbour, Kembla Grange, Cranbourne, Gatton and Carnarvon.
COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM
IT'S A KNOCKOUT (7) smashed the handy Oh Diamond Lil first-up at Randwick then stayed at 1400m last start when the in-form Getafix was a bit too good. Needs the mile now and she thrives in wet going so she looks a huge chance to book her ticket to the Big Dance. THE THREE HUNDRED (4) went to the front in a change of tactics and was far too good in the Group 3 Winx Guineas at the Sunshine Coast last time out. Subsequent trial winner who will be cherry ripe for this. ZOUATICA (6) stalked the pace but couldn't quicken as required in the Narrandera Cup over a mile recently. Better when allowed to bowl along in front. Will be hard to catch if ridden that way under a light weight. SIBAAQ (1) is racing well but is now without a win in around three years. Worth including in exotics. CRANKY HARRY (3) was back in form at Doomben last start. A wet track brings him right into calculations.
SELECTIONS: Keen on It's A Knockout.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Coffs Harbour Computer Card.
KEMBLA GRANGE: RACE 2 @ 1:10 PM
ARDUOUS (2) broke through for a dominant maiden win when last seen at Goulburn, relishing the heavy ground to race away and score by 3.3 lengths. This looks another suitable race and with similar conditions expected she goes on top. SUPER SUGOI (4) is knocking on the door, close up in similar races at his past two starts. This looks a suitable race and he should take holding out. CASABLANCA EXPRESS (1) has been okay in two runs back from a spell, beaten 3.5 lengths here last week. Fitter again and can improve into the finish. THINK ROMANCE (8) ran quite well fresh at Hawkesbury before an even effort last time at Grafton. She has placed on heavy ground before and could improve here. LUCKY BAY (6) is a place chance.
SELECTIONS: Arduous to win.
CRANBOURNE: RACE 6 @ 3:30 PM
ALWAYS HAPI (4) has a super consistent record over this journey with four wins and six minors from 12 tries. Well placed here with the claim and low draw and expected to feature again. GWAN SO (3) has been freshened since a solid midfield finish in tougher company. Doesn't win out of turn but back a notch and with the claim gets his chance. ANGEL OF THE SEA (11) resumed in easier and was well off best. Fitter and can improve sharply. FRIDGE MONSTER (13) is rarely far away, the last two beaten only a couple of lengths in similar grade. Aided by the claim and in the mix again. MASTERFUL (1) finished midfield last start at this track on a soft track when first up. Is up in journey today, rates among the chances.
SELECTIONS: Stay with Always Hapi.
GATTON: RACE 3 @ 1:17 PM
Former Victorian GROOVE JET (8) is consistent without winning, hitting the top-five in all nine starts to date and will have come on with that first-up local run now under the belt. Gets in well at the weights with the claim and maps favourably from the inside marble. Looks the one they all have to run down. ONATARE (10) is another that has been right there in recent efforts and will be rock-hard fit for this. Worth serious consideration. DARE I SAY (7) has had a few chances but is usually thereabouts and may run a race while fresh. MASTER NED (5) just missed the placings here at the latest outing and can feature with natural improvement. BETTA THAN PRESLEY (1) next in line.
SELECTIONS: Groove Jet to break through.
CARNARVON: RACE 6 @ 6:30 PM
WISE WORDS (3) proved too good over 1000m at this track 12 days ago, getting the job done by 0.9L. Webster remains in the saddle and the rise in trip doesn't look an issue on her form from earlier this campaign. Can repeat the dose without surprising. GOLD SPY (4) resumed with an impressive come-from-behind win here over 1000m, storming home to score comfortably. He's placed in both second-up attempts previously and Faithfull replaces the apprentice hoop. Ticks plenty of boxes and can go back-to-back. CHEEKY CHARLOTTE (2) hasn't been far away recently at this track and trip and drops into easier company today. She's well weighted after the 4kg claim and she's sure to be closing off strongly late in the race. MRS KANGAROO (5) is better than we've seen her past couple and can return to form. TALKING HEADS (1) won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Wise Words can win the last.
