Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 12.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Doomben,
Murray Bridge, Caulfield and Bunbury.
RANDWICK: RACE 2 @ 11:45 AM
PREMISE (14) having her fourth run for the Matt Dunn yard and finds her race, despite drawing out. Looking for this trip now after failing to sprint with them in the straight when seventh over 1350m at Ipswich. Brings superior figures and this is the weakest contest she's contested for some time. Goes close. IN SUMMER (6) progressive mare who closed off strongly at her first run back when a tenacious second over 1400m at Newcastle. Undefeated at this track and trip and gets the right tempo to surge late. RED RAGS TO BULLS (7) racing in career best form and rewarded for her consistency when she launched late to salute over 1500m at Rosehill in this class. Gets a similar set-up with Osmond retaining the ride. VERMICELLA (8) massive effort first up over the unsuitable trip when third over 1200m at Warwick Farm with the 61kg. Clearly come back well and has a massive swing in the weights with the claim. Value player. PENSATIVA (15) has her hoof on the till and must be respected.
SELECTIONS: Premise to score an overdue victory.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Randwick Computer Card.
DOOMBEN: RACE 2 @ 12:28 PM
SICILIAN (12) is a two-time winner over this distance range, should be ready to peak now at the fifth run back and gets 1.5kg weight relief from the inside alley. Plenty to like about her prospects. The penny dropped for KICKATINALONG (6) when last in work stringing three wins together on the bounce. Has earned her shot at this level now and should prove hard to hold out again. CERTAINLYCAN (2) has placed two from two over this course and distance and will strip fitter second-up from the spell. Rates a genuine top-three contender. GREYZOUS (4) strips fitter third-up from the break and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Sicilian to return to the winners' stall.
MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 2 @ 12:47 PM
Small field but several winning chances. Richard and Chantelle Jolly hold a strong hand here with STARTS NOW (4) and UNDER THE CONE (5). STARTS NOW (4) broke through for a deserved win last start. This is a rise in class but he's drawn well and won't be too far away. UNDER THE CONE (5) looks a danger on the quick back-up. SNOOPY NOW (1) drops back in grade after things didn't go his way in Melbourne last time. He's a Stakes winner over 1800m earlier this campaign so there's obvious quality there. He can win again. KATIM'S CLUB (7) has had no luck her last two starts but is racing very well. She can run well again. AITCH D'AMICO (6) is getting fitter and might be able to improve into the placings.
SELECTIONS: Backing Starts Now to win again.
CAULFIELD: RACE 4 @ 1:45 PM
Hard to go past JIMMY THE BEAR (2) who backs up from winning the Winter Championship Final at Flemington last week. His form this time in has been outstanding and he just gets in so well at the set weights and penalties here. Some query out to 2000m but draws ideally and should just have too much class. POUNDING (1) has been behind Jimmy The Bear in recent runs and now meets that horse worse off at the weights. That makes it tough to say he'll turn the tables however he does boast a third placing to Cascadian in a G1 Australian Cup over this trip which is significant. Outside of those two, the rest are poorly weighted and the odds reflect that. MAKE IT SWEET (9) was solid here last time in BM78 company and can give a sight. BOGA LEGEND (8) should appreciate 2000m now and has some ability.
SELECTIONS: Jimmy The Bear to win.
BUNBURY: RACE 3 @ 4:04 PM
TRUE PLAYER (3) looks a nice horse on the rise, showing plenty of ability when rounding up his rivals and winning comfortably at Northam last start. The form out of that race has been hot and Pike remains in the saddle from a good draw. Doubt we've seen the best of him yet and he can continue to win through the grades. MORE THAN ENUFF (6) just missed last start as an $11 chance at Pinjarra, finishing 0.6L off the winner. Third-up now and ready to strike, he maps for a lovely run in transit and he can be in the finish yet again. FAMOUS DAIN (1) got the job done here two back in narrow fashion before tiring over the longer journey last time out. He has the speed to roll across from out wide and if he runs up to his winning figure two back, he'll go close. LONG GENES (4) is building nicely this time in work and can put his best foot forward third-up into the campaign. UNCLE GERARD (8) finally draws a gate and can be a winning hope if he can settle closer.
SELECTIONS: True Player can win again.
