Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 7.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Wagga, Pakenham Synthetic and Barcaldine.
WAGGA: RACE 7 @ 4:05 PM
Strong race with plenty of chances. MAGNOLIA STAR (9) excellent return when shedding his maiden status two back. Brave performance from the wide gate when a tough fourth over 900m at Albury. Finally drawn a decent gate and will take stopping. ANTISOCIAL (4) progressing well this prep and gets her chance again with Kennedy's 3kg claim. Defeated a strong line up over 975m at Swan Hill on the quick back-up. Kept fresh and can make it two in a row from the low draw. THE OTHER STRAAND (7) sharp class drop from the wide gate when a dominant maiden winner over 1180m at Gundagai. Quayde Krogh retains the ride, and a repeat effort will see her play a leading role. BRIAL ROSE (1) resuming with solid claims.
SELECTIONS: Magnolia Star to salute.

PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM
FIRST THOUGHT (1) was brought south by Ciaron Maher and had a seven-week let-up before a much better effort last start over 2025m at Cranbourne, closing well to finish third. Looks ready for this longer trip and appeals as the one to beat. ROTATING SOUL (10) has been in the money at three of her last four starts, most recently over this course and distance when no match for the winner as favourite. Rock hard fit and sure to play a big role again. DESERT ROSE (7) produced a career-best effort recently when beaten under a length over the mile at this circuit. Huge step up in trip today which is the query, but Jamie Melham's booking is a positive move. GRASSY SPUR (3) is a dour type looking for this trip after three runs back from a spell. STYLE GUIDE (11) is rock hard fit and can feature in the finish.
SELECTIONS: First Thought to win.
BARCALDINE: RACE 3 @ 2:35 PM
DEHORNED UNICORN (2) looked good winning over this course and distance when having his first run for the new yard before just running into one better at Toowoomba at the latest effort. Strips fitter third-up from the break and gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim. Rates the testing material. It's hard to knock the form of DAICOS (1) who has hit the quinella spot at his past seven efforts. Grows a leg for hoop Missen and should be right there at the business end again. The well-related PALAZZO SPIRIT (4) (half to Listed winner and G3 placed Catoggio) is a bit hit or miss but has won three of his past four and looks a must for the multiples. POLE POSITION (9) resumes here for the new barn and any market support must be noted. CHIEF MONDO (7) is better than the recent run suggests and can bounce back with the help of the inside marble.
SELECTIONS: Dehorned Unicorn to salute.
