From the beaten jockeys – Conquering Stakes

Kelvin Sanderson won the 2025 Listed PFD Food Services Conquering Stakes in Launceston on Wednesday night aboard Durazzo. Below is what the beaten brigade had to say about their mounts:

nd Jett Stanley (Just Cruisin') – "Ran an absolutely great race again. Just found one better, simple as that."

rd Codi Jordan (First Accused) – "Super run tonight up to the 1400, we're pretty confident going into that mile race."

th Lauryn Bingley (Sushi Express) – "He ran well, had to do a lot of work from the gate, which took its toll in the last 100m, but he was first-up today. He's on a Devonport Cup campaign and should be thereabouts next start.

th Anthony Darmanin (Kaliuwaa Falls) – "Couldn't be happier with him. Obviously got back, he always goes really well first-up, but I thought he attacked the line really well and I'm looking forward to riding him next start."

th Troy Baker (Thespian Waters) – "The race just wasn't run to suit him. They went that slow in front, which turned into a sit and sprint, and he's not that type of horse, but he didn't disgrace himself, and he fought off the challengers out wide."

th Erica Byrne Burke (Alvarinho) – "Really good run there tonight. Just the way the track is playing, I had to go a little wide on the corner, but it was a good, honest run."

th Jabez Johnstone (Wineglass Bay) – "Very good run from the horse. Tricky barrier, so I had no luck and had to drag back, but we really came home, and he's going to come on from that."

th Stan Tsaikos (Ashfall) – "Super run. We struck interference soon after the start and again at the 1200 our run was taken from us. We were forced to check and struck a heel, but he finished off super. Very happy."

th Daniel Ganderton (Ashy Boy) – "Good kick-off, pretty similar run to last year. I think he was beaten three or four last year and similar again today. Obviously, his Grand Final is in a few weeks' time."

th David Pires (And Beyond) – "He was a bit slow to start. I thought I was half a chance coming around the home turn, but he's a nine-year-old and might've had his time."

th Craig Newitt (Bank Maur) – "He got poleaxed around the first turn, then I was three deep outside the speed and was beaten a fair way out."
