A softer track should suit an unlucky runner at Ipswich.

Firm tracks seem to have been the bain of Billionair Baby's preparation so far and even though the Ipswich surface is drying after recent heavy rain, conditions should still suit the gelding to return to the winners' list.

Robert Heathcote will saddle up three runners in the Racing and Sports Class 5 Handicap (1200m) where metro performer Bilionair Baby will be joined by stablemates Party Spirit and I Am A Marvel.

"Billionair Baby and I Am A Marvel just will not run on the firm tracks we've had these last two months," Heathcote said.

"That Ipswich was a Soft 5 on Thursday morning, even if it dries out with another 30-degree day it still won't be a firm road that Eagle Farm tends dry out so quickly."

Billionair Baby has not registered a win since December 2024 but Heathcote's firm believe that harder surfaces have not been to the six-year-old's liking has been backed up by the three jockeys all involved in the six starts.

"If you have a look at Billionair Baby's form, you'd think he's going terrible but he's not," Heathcote added.

"Every rider is telling us the same thing that he just wants a track that he can get his toes into and he hasn't been getting that.

"He's not getting any younger at six and he's only one four from 30 (starts) but he's past five runs have been seventh, sixth, seventh, fifth and fourth and been there abouts between two and five lengths in those starts.

"He's been thereabouts but every rider comes in there and says the same thing that the horse is travelling like a winner but won't let down on that firm ground."

Party Spirit is second-up after finishing second at Ipswich over 1100m on October 17 while I Am A Marvel could lead again to try and pinch a sixth career victory.

"I Am A Marvel has good gate speed but we'll use it and Party Spirit has raced really well at Ipswich in the past and that's the reason we're going there.

"Emily Lang is brilliant at getting them out of the barriers and starting from gate three there's every chance that Party Spirit will be one-two with I Am A Marvel in the run."
