Winning Trainer: Gavin Beddgood
Bounced back from Hill Stakes: "I thought he ran a blinder first up, the form was franked out of that. Went to Sydney, we had to ride him forward, that was the pattern of the day."
"Thought he was the winner cornering, thought he was going to run third or fourth at the furlong, and I just hit the firm ground up there and pulled him up that day."
"We didn't want heavy ground because he's not that at it, but a soft five today is the perfect track for him."
"I couldn't believe it when I got here and walked it after the first, and I thought it was on the better side of a (soft) six. The rain we've had, kudos to them"
"I think he's probably better ridden a little bit more conservatively than what we did that day, but the way the pattern was that day, we had to ride him forward. Got a lovely run in transit today, a perfectly prepared track, a soft five, it was ideal for him."
"We're not a stable that's been around for a long time; we're not inundated with bluebloods, so very grateful to my owners for sending him our way and great to get a result on such a big day like this."
Targets?: "Races like the Ballarat Cup, we could go to Perth but we'll let the dust settle and see how the horse pulls up."
Winning Jockey: John Allen
How it unfolded: "He stepped a bit slowly, so that kind of forced a hand to ride him a bit more conservatively and probably suited him."
"He travelled into the race well. I was still on the bridle; I knew Ciaron's horse was probably going to be following me, and I could feel him looming up to me, but I thought we quickened up well and we kind of fought him off.
"Good, honest win. He's a good horse on his day, and he showed that today."
Two greys quinella: "I was watching his replays back in Ireland and by the same sire. He even gallops like him, too.
"When he saw him come up on his outside, he responded.
"I was confident. An easy run, he travelled well to the 300 metre mark, so I was confident I was going to have something in the locker anyhow."
"He's a good horse on his day and for whatever reason when he went up to Sydney and I thought he was going to run really well and finish off.
"Back on a nicer surface today and a nice run, a bit more conservative, he really finished off."
