What the beaten jockeys said after the Cox Plate and Randwick features.
MOONEE VALLEY
Group 1 - Ladbrokes Cox Plate
(3yo+ WFA - 2040m)
Race Result:
1st: Via Sistina (Chris Waller/James McDonald) - $2.25F
2nd: Buckaroo (Chris Waller/Mark Zahra) - $16
3rd: Treasurethe Moment (Matt Laurie/Damian Lane) - $5.50
Winning Time: 2:05.03 Last 600m: N/A
Margins: ½ Head x 1½L
Beaten jockey comments:
Ethan Brown (Light Infantry Man): "He's run out of his skin. He got a lovely lead, as he's getting older he's showing signs of up in trip is going to suit. Continually learning about him every start but he held his own then and he's just going to get better deeper into a prep."
Blake Shinn (Antino): "That was disappointing, that's not the Antino we're accustomed of knowing. First part of the race I was happy to ride a patient race, they went very quick, I followed the first and second horses but his action wasn't good from the 1000. He didn't want to track up like he usually does and he just didn't chase from the 500, so I'm sure there's something not right with the horse and that's why he performed the way he did."
Craig Williams (Attrition): "I really feel privileged and honoured to ride in the last Moonee Valley Cox Plate, the last meeting here at the current location. Mitch Freedman, my horse's trainer and Attrition, the horse, did a great job and he ran really admirably to run fourth but that's a quality field."
Mark Zahra (Buckaroo): "He was courageous, followed the winner everywhere but I just never got in front at any stage. She just finds a head the minute you come up to her. She's a good mare but he ran well."
Damian Lane (Treasurethe Moment): "She was super. Very proud of the horse, proud of Matty and his team for getting her back to where she is today. Just unfortunately Nepotism was put into the race early and forced my hand, I had to ask for her a bit earlier than what was ideal and she obviously put a good margin on them on the corner but that early move had a toll late, so she did a great job."
Hugh Bowman (Aeliana): "She was a little keen in the run and no one wanted the fence, so I just let her creep forward throughout, which was fine, but when the pressure started to build, I was reluctant going inside Ethan Brown, but I had no other choice and I took my chance and it didn't work out."
Zac Lloyd (Nepotism): "He went really well. He was able to execute the race nicely, he's just probably not as seasoned as the other horses. He got a bit lost coming around that bend."

RANDWICK
Group 1 - Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes
(3yo SW - 2000m)
Race Result:
1st: Attica (J Pride/A Hyeronimus) - $4
2nd: Shangri La Boy (Waterhouse & Bott/N Rawiller) - $3.20F
3rd: The Pearls (C Waller/T Clark) - $21
Winning Time: 2:03.47 Last 600m: 36.28
Margins: Sht Nk X 2 1/2L
Beaten jockey comments:
Nash Rawiller (Shangri La Boy): "He's a lovely colt. I had to change tact at the start when Jay (Ford - Tambeloa) wanted to lead. He gave me a lovely ride and the way my bloke quickened up the rise, I'm not saying I thought I was home because I've been in this game for too long to think that, but I must say I got a surprise when the other horse got to me coming to the line. I think they are two very good colts heading into the new year."
Andrew Adkins (San Giovanni): "Probably has just come to the end of his preparation, he's done a good job to get to this level, he'll come back better."
Kerrin McEvoy (Officiate): "Just fair."
Tyler Schiller (Federalist): "He's a better horse when he can get to the outside and he just didn't get afforded that today."
Regan Bayliss (Champagne Hero): "He was a bit disappointing overall, had a nice run midfield, tracked into it from the 550m and thought he'd work to the line a little bit better than that, maybe he's just a miler."
Jay Ford (Tambeloa): "Run really well, we were able to give him a positive ride, little bit keen in front but fought on well."
Tom Sherry (Southern Prince): "He ran great, keeps improving, he'll definitely get a little bit further as well."
Jason Collett (Within The Law): "A bit disappointed, I lost the back of the winner around the turn and I just couldn't make it back up again."
Ashley Morgan (Queen Of Clubs): "Good effort, wish she stepped a little bit quicker, she's an Oaks filly for me, staying on all day, got into a beautiful rhythm, she'll give herself a chance."
Tim Clark (The Pearls): "She ran fantastic, she had a nice run, two colts were just a bit strong for her today, but she ran great."
Rachel King (Sheeza Diva): "Good run, she was just a little fresh early which cost her late."

Group 2 - The Invitation
(3yo+ F&M SW&P - 1400m)
Race Result:
1st: Stefi Magnetica (Bjorn Baker/Jason Collett) - $3.90
2nd: Gerringong (Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Nash Rawiller) - $14.00
3rd: Gangsta Granny (Michael, John & Wayne Hawkes/Tim Clark) - $9.00
Winning Time: 1:22.76 Last 600m: 35.12
Margins: Neck x ½ L
Beaten jockey comments:
Tommy Berry (Manaal): "She had a lovely run in the race, was a little bit below par for her today, might have to come to the end of her prep and we'll see her again in the Autumn."
Adam Hyeronimus (Miss Roumbini): "Unfortunately the first half of the race didn't go right for us and that told late."
Regan Bayliss (Firestorm): "She's gone terrific, got left flat-footed at the top of the straight, but the best part of her race was the last 100m, she's certainly on target for something in Melbourne."
Tim Clark (Gangsta Granny): "Gallant effort, she tried really hard."
Rachel King (Oh Diamond Lil): "Good run, probably looking for that little bit further now."
Kerrin McEvoy (Monte Supreme): "She ran a nice enough race, we were on the back of the winner turning for home, she might not have run the 1400m out strongly, so maybe back in trip is the go for her going forward."
Tyler Schiller (Dark Glitter): "I thought she was really improving sharply there and unfortunately ran out of room, had to alter course and she was just a little bit flat-footed, but it was a good effort."
Nash Rawiller (Gerringong): "She ran great, she put herself in the right spot, I felt she was a bit lost that last 100m, probably a long time since she's hit the front I guess, but a really good effort, she's heading in the right direction."
Dylan Gibbons (More Territories): "She's still going great guns she just needs to set up for her and sadly there's not much you can do about that."
Ashley Morgan (Overriding): "Very good run, she's going really well, back to handicap conditions will suit her."
Chad Schofield (Bauhinia): "Ran enormous, very good horse, I was always sort of cluttered up, I was on the back of Manaal which never took me anywhere, I was going better than her, always in restricted room but hit the line very well."
