Baaeed did just that. Will the 2025 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (1600m) at Longchamp on Sunday be as good?

2025 PRIX DU MOULIN DE LONGCHAMP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp is a Group 1 race run under Weight For Age conditions for three year olds and up at Longchamp conducted by France Galop.

The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp is run over 1600m. It was first run in 1957 and was won by Rose Royale.

The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp is named after the windmill within the bounds of the Longchamp course. It was moved to September in the 1970s and settled on this date in 2011.

It was brought in to celebrate the centenary of Longchamp in 1957. The Prix de l'Abbaye on Arc day is the other race doing just that.

In the last of his seven consecutive Group 1 wins, Rock Of Gibraltar ended his career winning this race in 2002.

During his 2005 European season under Luca Cumani, former Australian horse Starcraft won Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and then the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The 2019 edition was a controversial running as Circus Maximus under Ryan Moore drifted out on Romanised but held the race after a protest. There was even an appeal post-meeting as to the final outcome.

Baaeed won his first major taking the 2021 running. He would also win races like the QEII Stakes and Lockinge Stakes afterwards and then become an all-time great in 2022.

Cash Asmussen won it six times as a rider and Andre Fabre also won it eight times as a trainer.

The last non-French winner was Dreamloper in 2022 for Ed Walker.

The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp was worth €800,000 in 2025.

Notable winners of the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp include Baaeed (2021), Persian King (2020), Circus Maximus (2019), Recoletos (2018), Ribchester (2017), Vadamos (2016), Ervedya (2015), Moonlight Cloud (2012), Excelebration (2011), Goldikova (2008), Starcraft (2005), Rock Of Gibraltar (2002), Desert Prince (1998), Spinning World (1997), Kingmanbo (1993), Soviet Star (1988), Rousillon (1985), Irish River (1979), Sanedtki (1978), Sallust (1972), Habitat (1969) and Hula Dancer (1963).
