A look at some of the other angles from Rosehill.
Black type hopes for Midway winner
There was serendipity to the victory of Starphistocated in the Midway Handicap (1800m) at Rosehill with the mare scoring on a day special to her trainer and jockey.
Not only was winning hoop Andrew Adkins celebrating his birthday, it was also the 10-year anniversary of the death of legendary horseman Bart Cummings, who Starsphistocated's trainer John Thompson worked with for eight years.
"He taught me most of what I know. There is a lot of Bart in this horse," Thompson said.
"Just in the way I feed. The way I train.
"Today she finally drew a gate which was a big plus. She had been drawing wide and rushing forward and working hard early and being a bit flat in the finish but today she got a nice, cushy run and therefore was really strong late."
The win was also a nice touch for birthday boy Adkins, who said the "one percenters" finally went the mare's way on Saturday.
"She was tough, she was gritty and she deserved that," Adkins said.
"It's a good day to be a winner at Rosehill.
"I've got to thank John and his team. They have given me a lot of support lately and it's good to get winners and back that support up."
The win was Starphistocated's second since joining Thompson this preparation and while Saturday's win was Midway grade, he believes she has the scope to reach much bigger heights.
"Something like the Matriarch Stakes down the track. I think she could get to that level," Thompson said.
More Sunshine for Denim Wynen
Wyong trainer Denim Wynen has continued her remarkable start to the season producing Sunshine Law for another determined in the Bankstown Sports Handicap (1500m).
Wynen, who has a small team and does all her own work, had to borrow a strapper from fellow trainer Kristen Buchanan to help with her race day responsibilities and Sunshine Law ensured the afternoon was worthwhile.
It was the mare's second win at the track this month and Wynen's third Rosehill winner in as many meetings with Monkhana taking out the Midway Handicap on August 16.
"It has been three out of four weeks but three in a row coming here," Wynen said.
"She was a late entry but I said to my owners, 'don't let Snowden's (runner, Amreekiyah) scare you out of the race. Your horse had beaten Sister Daae already' and I thought they were the two in the race to beat.
"I am very proud of my horse. She went super."
Sunshine Law ($11) had been racing on the speed but connections opted to ride her quietly on Saturday to help her finish the race off.
The mare was strongest on the line for Anna Roper to score by a short head over Kingston Charm ($41) with Vienna Vixen ($19) another long head away.
Amreekiyah started a $2.40 favourite and was caught wide after pressing forward in the early stages before disappointing in the straight to finish last.
Clear winner in gripping finish
Trainer Annabel Archibald has credited Cristal Clear's elongated physique for his ability to get the decision in a tight finish in the Campbelltown Catholic Club Handicap (1500m).
The four-year-old was clearly headed by eventual runner-up Anythink Goes but fought back tenaciously to dive again on the line and score by a half-head.
"He's got a long neck and I think it helped there. He's also got a parrot mouth so I think that helps in those tight finishes," Archibald said.
The stable regarded Cristal Clear ($8) highly enough to test him in stakes company as a spring three-year-old and he wasn't disgraced, finishing midfield in the Gloaming Stakes (1800m) and fourth to Prost in the Callander-Presnell (1600m).
Archibald said they were content to take him through his grades for now and see what level he could reach.
"As a three-year-old he was good, he was fourth in the Callander-Presnell," she said.
"We've come back now as a four-year-old and I suppose we're going through our grades.
"He will take a lot of confidence from that… and I'm sure he's going to keep progressing through the grades."
Quote of the Day: "Anna – I love Anna – takes a lot of care for the horses and she said to me she feels she is a better horse if she can take a sit than be up on the pace." Trainer Denim Wynen is a fan of apprentice Anna Roper, the pair combining for a Rosehill win with Sunshine Law.
