Arapaho went onto more G1 success. Could it happen out of the 2025 Premier's Cup (2000m) at Randwick on Saturday?

2025 PREMIER'S CUP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Premier's Cup is a Group 3 race run under Quality Handicap conditions for stayers conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Premier's Cup is run over 2000m. It was first run in 1947 and was won by Courier.

Activation carried 60.5 in 2006 which is the highest weight since the metric system came in.

Gai Waterhouse has won the race 6 times including 2 with Adrian Bott.

Both Magic Hurricane and Glencadam Gold won the Metropolitan after taking the Premier's Cup while Railings added the Metrop and the Caulfield Cup too following the Rosehill win.

Hydrogen won the race in 1952 and would go on to win the next two Cox Plates.

After winning the 2016 race, Sense Of Occasion won the Villiers, placed in the Doncaster and Queen Elizabeth and won the Doomben Cup to end the season.

Avilius kept making progress now racing in Australia. After winning this race he won the Kingston Town, Bart Cummings but was knocked over in the Melbourne Cup. His Autumn prep included wins in the Carlyon Cup, Peter Young Stks, Ranvet Stks and Tancred Stks.

Chris Waller trained the first five over the line in 2019.

Mugatoo would not only win his home town Newcastle Cup after this, he'd win the All-Star Mile the following Autumn.

Arapaho won in 2022 and graduated to win the Tancred Stakes the following March.

The 2007 race was not held due to the Equine Influenza break out.

The race in 2021 had to be run at Kembla Grange due to geographic coronavirus protocols.

The 2025 Premier's Cup was run for prizemoney of $250,000.

The 2024 Premier's Cup was won by Eliyass from Touristic and Super Strike.
