It was a Derby winners race in 2023 led home by Kukeracha. Will that be the case again in the 2024 Premier's Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday?

2024 PREMIER'S CUP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Premier's Cup is a Group 3 race conducted by the Brisbane Racing Club usually at Eagle Farm as part of the Queensland racing carnival.

The Premier's Cup was introduced in 2006 as a feature handicap that serves as a lead-up to the Brisbane Cup.

Since 2006 the Premier's Cup was run over 2200m at Doomben with the exception of 2015 when the distance was 2020m. However it is now at 2400m with the Brisbane Cup up in distance.

The race in 2020 was moved to late June at Doomben in the re-jigged carnival over 2200m.

In the 2023 running, a Queensland Derby winner beat an Epsom Derby winner and a Victoria Derby winner was fourth.

The 2024 Premier's Cup was worth prizemoney of $200,000.

Earlier winners of the Premier's Cup include Theseo, Rezone, Reggie, Precedence, Zephyron, Faust and Real Love.

The 2023 Premier's Cup was won by Kukeracha from Serpentine and Kalapour.
