The first of the G1s for the season was a real eye-opener.
Win Carnelian and June Blair were expected to lead Sprinters Stakes but nobody expected them to stay in the front until the finish but that is exactly what happened. Win Carnelian, an 8yo, ran the race of his life having started at 50/1 and we had picked June Blair as out roughie and she started on 20/1.
Namura Clair emerged from the pack to chase them but it was too little too late and she took the third money with favourite Satono Reve the fourth. There were quite a few sad stories due to traffic jams and they impacted on Mama Concha and also the Hong Kong runner Lucky Sweynesse.
