Ayr Gold Cup Day and Mill Reef at Newbury

It will be a bit damp and chilly up north but that's nothing new.

At Ayr there is generally a huge turnout for this meeting whatever the weather and some very tempting investment opportunities.

The Ayr Silver Cup is a Handicap over 1200m with a full field of 25 so it is down to the lucky pin which has landed on Binhavear 5/1 for Haggas- Oisin Orr, Nariko 13/2 for Palmer – Oisin Murphy, Far Above Dream 11/1 for Owen-Shoemark, 14/1 Sudden Flight for R Hughes and C Rodriguez and18/1 Silky White for Burke-Lee.

The Firth of Clyde is a G3 over 1200m for the 2yo fillies and a field of 15.  We think this could be a Royal event as Their Majesties' Lightning Polka is on 6/1 for Waler-Shoemark and she's by Night of Thunder.  In our youth the Thunder and Lightning Polka was the theme music for Saturday's radio racing roundup.  Argentine Tango – she tries so hard one day it must happen.  She's by Mattmu and is on 8/1 for Easterby-Allan.  India Love is on 11/1 and she's by Havana Grey and with Boughey-Egan and Lam Yai 14/1 for Burke-Lee.

The Ayr Gold Cup Heritage Handicap is over 1200m and again a full field of 25 contest.

We like Flash Harry on 12/1 for Cox-Nicholls, Two Tribes 15/2 for R Spencer and D Egan, 12/1 for Purosangue for Balding- O Murhy and 14.1 Hammer The Hammer for Ryan-Eaves.

At Newbury the World Trophy Stakes is G3 over 1000m and will have 11 running.  We like Montassib 11/2 for Haggas- C Fallon, 8/1 for First Instinct Haggas- Marquand and 11/1 Cover Up for the Crisfords with Buick riding.

The Mill Reef this year is in honour of Geof Lewis and is G2 over 1200m for eight 2yos running.  Godolphin's Words of Truth (Appleby-Buick) is by Lope de Vega and is on 9/4.  Rock on Thunder is by Night of Thunder and is on 3/1 for Ryan- Stott.  Watcha Snoop is on 8/1 for Palmer-C Fallon.  He's by Coulsty and was beaten by Word of Truth by a couple of lengths when they met previously.
