There is a free entry into the Arc for the winner of each of the trial races – the Foy, the Vermeille and the Niel, and in between we have the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp G1.
First up is the Prix Foy G2 over 2400m with 9 runners. Sosie is on 11/4 for Fabre-Guyon so it looks like everyone is ignoring his run in the Eclipse and remembering he ran fourth in the Arc last year. Aidan O'Brien has called on Christophe Soumillon as his jockey in France after Ryan Moore's broken leg has ruled him out for some time and here he rides the 3/1 shot Los Angeles. The consistent Almaqam Walker-Marquand and Map of Stars who was second to Sosie in the Ganay are both on 5/1. Map of Stars is a Wathnan horse with Gaffard and will be ridden by James Doyle.
The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp G1 is over 1600m and has 12 starters. Rosallion is on top in the UK at 11/4 but we are prepared to wait a bit longer before parting with the hard-earned which may go on Henri Matisse 3/1 O'Brien-Soumillon. Dancing Gemini is on 5/1 and we haven't taken the Lion in Winter out of the little black book as yet and 10/1 worth a small investment with Wayne Lordon riding. The Japanese runner Go To First is interesting and they've got a French jockey (Guyon) on him so 20/1 is attractive. He's been working very well according t our spies.
The Prix Vermeille G1is for the f&m over 2400m and has 6 running. The wonderful Whirl is odds on here – O'Brien-Soumillon – and she looks good here. However there are threats in the form of Aventure 10/3 Ferland-Guyon and the French Oaks winner Gezora on 4/1 Graffard-Barzelona.
The Prix Niel G2 is also over 2400m for 3yos and has 7 running. Leffard won the Grand Prix de Paris and is on 9/4 for Rouget-Demuro. Godolphin's Cualificar is with Fabre and Buick will ride – they are on 5/2 and why not Swagman 8/1 for O'Brien-Soumillon.
