Last of the G1s at Deauville 2025

The Prix Morny and the Romanet were the last of the G1s to be run there this season.

And it was a second G1 Karl Burke and a first for Cliff Lee as Venetian Sun maintained his unbeaten record in the Prix Morny and heading the favourite Gstaad with Wise Approach third of the six runners.

Elsewhere on the card the Prix Kergolay for the stayers saw Double Major emerge the victor with Goya Señora 4/1 second and favourite Sevenna's Knight third in a five horse race.

The Prix du Calvados went to the 11/10 favourite My Highness with Fitzella second.  Our "roughie" Ceramic was fourth so will stay in the little black book for now.

The Jean Romanet was also G1 for the girls and it saw Quisiana win for Graffard with Soumillon riding and thus earns a free supplement to the Arc.  However she has not been the strongest of horses physique-wise and they are debating her future program with a degree of caution.  Survie was second and cming from the Nicholas Clement yard a popular placing.

There's still more to come at Deauville although some have already packed up the bucket and spade.
