The Travers is often referred to by this name, it's one of six graded stakes this Saturday.
They start off with the Gr 2 Lake Placid over 1600m on the turf for 3yo fillies and as there are only six runners we will just mention two and they are Play With Fire the favourite on 2/1 for Brown-Prat and she's by Oscar Performance. May Day Ready could also do well here on 5/2 for J Lee and J L Ortiz.
The Gr 1s start with the Personal Ensign over 1800m for f&m with 7 to run and here we see our lovely Thorpedo Anna coming for a nice outing at the Spa and she/s 6/5 for McPeek and BJ Hernandez. Randomized is on 4/1 for Brown- Franco and Leslie/s Rose may be able to add a spot of value at 9/2.
The H Allen Jerkins Memorial is over 1400m for 3yo with 8 runners and here we like Patch Adams (we have a dog friend of that name) for Cox-Saez and 3/1. Stablemate Verifire is by Authentic and is on 4/1 with some enthusiastic support around and Baffert's assistant's namesake Barnes is well in this on 9/2 and he's another Into Mischief.
The Ballerina is over 1400m for f&m with 9 runners and the field headed by Scylla on 5/2 for Mott-Prat. She looks well placed here. Hope Road is part of the Baffert task force and will be ridden by J L Ortiz – she's on 3/1 and My Mane Sqieeze is 5/1 for Maker-Saez.
The Forego is over 1400m and another Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" race and good to see it has attracted a field of 11 runners. Book'em Danno is in very good form and may get this – he's on 8/5 for D Ryan and P Lopez. We also like Mulinin on 7/2 for Brisset-Prat and a bit of a roughie here in Scotland on 12/1.
Then it's the big one – The Travers – over 2000m for the 3yos with Sovereignty hoping to give trainer Bill Mott and Jockey Junior Alvorado their first win of the race. He's a course and distance winner, has been racing in the highest company and this should be his day. Asmussen's Magnitude could be a factor but we think Sovereignty will do it. Much to short to consider betting in this race – just sit back and enjoy it.
