Shergar Cup Day at Ascot

It's good fun rather than serious racing but getting more popular every year.

This year they've done away with a Womens' Team (were they too good or needed more slots?) This year there are for women jockeys riding.  For those who haven't come across this before there are four teams of three jockeys competing with the horses drawn by lot.  The winner gets 15 points and scaled down to 3 points for fifth.

This year's teams are Europe, Asia, Rest of the World and Great Britain & Ireland and they will compete over six races.  And then it's on to the party which is also getting bigger and bigger every year.

On a more serious note Haydock hosts the G3 Rose of Lancaster over 1900m with a field of 8.  Detain is on 11/4 for the Gosdens and Rossa Ryan, Haatem 7/2 for Hannon – James Doyle and First Conquest 16/1 for Appleby-Probert a very tempting quote.

At the Curragh we have the Phoenix Ssprit G3 over 1200m with 15 running.  So far no prices around but we are looking at Buccanero Fuerte for Adrian Murray and David Egan, Spycatcher  for Burke-Lee and Vespertilo for McCreery- Wayne Lordan.

The Phoenix Stakes is G1 over 1200m and has 6 runners with Aidan O'Brien's duo of Gstaad and True Love looking to fight it out.  And we are going for a multiple here with their stablemate Puerto Rico who will have Ronan Whelan on board and is on 20/1.
