Sam King is back with a handful of selections on Tuesday.
Redcar hosts it's final meeting of the season and there are a couple of wagers to be had on the card.
It's interesting that Rossa Ryan heads up to the North Yorkshire venue and it might prove worthwhile as he partners the well-fancied Alcarath in the feature racingtv.com/freetrial Handicap (1.55) for trainer Alan King.
It can often pay to ride the crest of the wave when stables are in good form and there are few trainers in better nick at present than Alan King, who has saddled five winners from twelve runners in the last two weeks.
He sends out the lightly raced and unexposed Alcarath here. A typical Alan King three-year-old, he looked in need of the experience on his debut outing when running on nicely into fourth at Kempton before once again showing up well behind a more experienced rival at Salisbury next time out.
The son of Acclamation looked to face an uphill task against previous winner Gamrai at Epsom for his third start but with that prior experience under the belt, he controlled fractions out in front before showing a nice turn of foot to lengthen an impressive eight and a half lengths away from that rival crossing the line.
The latter, who was giving away the penalty that day, has since run fairly in handicap company without setting the world alight but it was more the manner of Alcarath's victory that impressed.
There should be more to come from this unexposed three-year-old on his handicap debut and with his trainer, who hasn't had a runner at this track in the last five seasons, in a rude vein of form, he can defy this opening mark of 90.
1pt Win – Alcarath
Odds – 7/4
The penalised Crocodile Power looks to hold fair claims in the Carol Simpson Legacy Handicap (2.57), but at the current prices, One Of Our Own is preferred.
An experienced five-year-old sprinter who recorded her fifth career success over this trip at Pontefract earlier this season, One Of Our Own shaped as though she was ready to return to winning ways when third over course and distance just eight days ago.
Talented apprentice Kaiya Fraser was onboard when she struck off 3lb higher earlier in the campaign and it's surely a bonus that he returns to the saddle here, while he should be able to slot his mount into a nice position from stall eleven with the likes of What What What, who is drawn in ten, and Diligent Henry, in eight, both likely to go forward.
The daughter of Poet's Word also has previous course and distance winning form having scored here back in August 2023 and off a workable mark, she seems overpriced in an open-looking handicap.
1pt Each-way – One Of Our Own
Odds – 7/1
