Whilst Arrowfield Stud’s The Autumn Sun enjoyed a glorious October in Australia with multiple Group winners, his half-brother Azimpour continued to enhance the family’s reputation with a Listed victory in France.

The result of a joint breeding venture between the Aga Khan Studs and Arrowfield Stud, The Autumn Sun was sold for 700,000 Australian dollars at the 2017 Easter Yearling Sale to Hermitage Thoroughbreds. Sent into training with Chris Waller, the son of Redoute's Choice was an immediate sensation on the track, achieving five Group 1 victories in a nine-month period, including the Caulfield Guineas and the Randwick Guineas.
With Arrowfield Stud repurchasing 50% of the talented colt, he retired to stud and proved immediately successful, with eleven Stakes performers in the first crop. Although the stallion missed the 2024 breeding season due to injury, he returned with a high-class book of 160 mares for 2025, which included four-time Group 1 winner Levante.
It had been a successful joint-experiment for Arrowfield Stud and the Aga Khan Studs, with the maternal family continuing to flourish in Europe.
Dam Azmiyna, a half-sister to the multiple Group 1-winning Azamour, continues to thrive at stud. Her 2021 filly Azada secured Listed honours for Irish trainer Dermot Weld in October 2024 and Azimpour showed immediate promise when winning his maiden in the same month.
Azimpour ran commendably to finish second behind subsequent Prix Niel winner Cualificar in the Group 3 Prix la Force on seasonal reappearance, before a credible fifth in the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club. He shaped better than the bare result, finishing only one-and-a-quarter lengths behind Camille Pissarro at the line and subsequently secured his first Black Type victory in the Listed Grand Prix du Nord at Chantilly.
With The Autumn Sun's offspring securing victories in the Group 3 Caulfield Classic, Group 1 Caulfield Guineas and the Group 1 Epsom Handicap in October, the family continues to thrive – both in Australia and Europe.
