Connections of the talented four-year-old filly Estrange have confirmed that she will take her chance in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
Trained by David O'Meara for leading owner-breeders Cheveley Park Stud, who are yet to have a runner in the Arc, Estrange was last seen chasing home Aidan O'Brien's current leading Arc hope Minnie Hauk in the Yorkshire Oaks in August.
In the aftermath of the contest, connections had said that they will make a late decision as to whether they head to Paris for the Arc or stay on home soil for the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot a fortnight later.
With rain in the forecast around Paris over the weekend, David O'Meara's filly, who has proven winning form on soft ground, has been given the green light to make the trip across the Channel.
Richard Thompson, racing manager for owners Cheveley Park Stud, told the Nick Luck Daily Podcast: "It feels great (to have a runner in the Arc). We've been used to more sprinters and milers but having a horse in the Arc is a great thrill.
"She's only run six times, she finished second in the Yorkshire Oaks to Minnie Hauk, she's won a Group 2 but it's hard to call how good she is yet.
"Earlier this year she won the Group 3 Lester Piggott Stakes at Haydock, and she was very impressive that day.
"We know she likes soft ground, she's in great form at the moment and she's won a Group 2 and has finished second in a Group 1.
"We always hoped she'd get her ground or good to soft. Certainly no better than good ground, whereas York was good to firm. It was only a four-runner field, and the prize money was good at York, so we thought we'd take her chance but good to firm wasn't for her.
"The forecast has gone from being pretty dry to quite a bit of raining coming in. The evenings are cold, there are heavy dews in the morning, so I don't know what the ground will be but it's definitely going to be something she will enjoy."
