Sam King is back with three selections from Ayr.
The first wager comes in the opening handicap ay Ayr (13.15), where Khafiz is interesting on his handicap debut for the Roger Varian team and Northern Express ran well in a competitive contest at York last month and requires consideration.
However, it could be time for Mr King to shine following some hopelessly unlucky runs this season. Third off a mark of 90 over this course and distance last September, he barely came off the bridle when repeatedly short of room at Haydock last time out, shaping as though he was too well treated to ignore off this rating of 81.
He's clearly extremely well weighted and looks fairly priced at around 11/1 with conditions to suit.
1pt Win – Mr King
Odds – 11/1
The Richard Spencer and the Rebel Racing team seem to target this meeting but they've yet to enjoy any success yet.
However, a chance is taken in the Silver Cup (14.25) on Candy, who looked progressive last season, winning a course and distance handicap off a lowly mark on this card here before landing the Listed Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar.
Following a sixth-place finish in the Group 3 Commonwealth Cup Trial, Richard Spencer's contender fairly went off the boil until his promising fourth back at Ascot earlier in the month.
Soft ground looks to be right up his street and off a mark of 91, he's more than interesting at around the 14/1 mark.
1pt Win – Candy
Odds – 14/1
The Ayr Gold Cup (15:35) looks as competitive as ever, with Purosangue an interesting contender with the first-time cheekpieces applied under Oisin Murphy.
That said, he's been well found in the market and at a bigger price, Flash Harry is the selection. An unexposed three-year-old, he displayed a very useful turn of foot to land a valuable pot at Goodwood last time and looks to be progressing nicely.
The booking of the talented apprentice Jack Nicholls, who takes off a valuable 5lb, catches the eye and he ought to have plenty more to offer.
1pt Win – Flash Harry
Odds – 14/1
